Can't decide whether it's a bit dated? I think it sounds soft but not too 'girly'. I like nature names. I also think Hazel is beautiful, but it seems to be having a but of a moment, which puts me off slightly, plus I don't like the sound quite as much.

I don’t like either name I’m afraid. There are so many beautiful names for girls beginning with A and H. I think they are quite bland, boring and dated.

Amber feels dull and dated to me. Hazel is having a moment, and I don’t love it either, but prefer it to Amber. I like it for a boy though.

I really like it and know an 11 year old Amber.

I dislike Hazel, and yes it has become popular.

I really like it, well known but not too popular. Soft sounding but not y (ee) ending, nature theme, really lovely!

I really like Amber! I think it’s a gorgeous name, that’s stood the test of time - it’s never been top 20 so it’s not as dated to a particular era as some names, and I think it will continue to hover around the lower end of the top 100 names for a while yet.
