Which one would you go for or is there anything else similar we haven't thought of? Please and thank you

Prefer Callum to Calvin.

timoteigirl · 01/04/2024 15:35

If it has to be between those two then Callum.

Corvin would be cool.

Callum all day long

I can’t stand Calvin (never have) and even more now since I met a very cruel person with this name (but that’s a personal connection)

Another name like Callum which I ADORE is Colm (pronounced Col- um) I just love the way it’s spelt and how it looks written down and how it’s said and it’s very similar to Callum

Sundaysunshine21 · 30/03/2024 22:50

I prefer Callum, it’s underused now too, I think it was more popular in the 90s.

I don’t dislike Calvin though.

KayEmAy · 21/03/2024 19:23

Callum :)

MerryChristmasToYou · 20/03/2024 17:53

I prefer the Calum spelling too and associate Calvin with Calvinism.

spiderlight · 20/03/2024 14:29

Callum.

ElizaMulvil · 20/03/2024 14:27

Not Calvin . Too many (religious) connections.

aintnospringchicken · 20/03/2024 14:03

I like Callum, although I prefer the spelling Calum.I know a number Calums of varying ages and some of them are known as Cal.

Calvin. Then you can get him cuddly tiger.

This. (Hobbes is awesome ❤️)

NotFastButFurious · 20/03/2024 13:19

Callum 100%. Calvin just screams chav to me, and Calvin Harris of course

Other way round for me!

I know, little bald one is just the worst baby name meaning. Sigh

This is why we didn’t go Calvin for DS2 😄 I adore the shortening Cal. Didn’t like Callum.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 19/03/2024 23:34

Love the nn Cal. Problem is Calvin reminds me of the religion (Calvinism) and Callum only really sounds nice imo with a Scottish or Irish sounding surname - although if forced to pick between the two names, it would definitely be my preference.

I’d go for Caleb nn Cal (like in East of Eden) personally I think. Although I’ve also heard Cal can even be used as a nn for Charles, but I guess Charlie would be much more common.

sciencemama · 19/03/2024 19:50

Calvin for sure, too many Callum's out there.

What about
Callan
Caolan/ kaylen
Caine/ Kane

User6761 · 19/03/2024 19:50

Definitely Callum (prefer Calum spelling though). Both have different vibes - Calvin has American/dated vibe to me (although I love Calvin and Hobbes!), whereas Calum/Callum has classic Scottish/Irish feel.

I worked with a Cavin years ago (American guy of Irish ancestry). Or how about Cillian, Cameron or Ciaran?

LassZombie · 19/03/2024 19:33

I think they both feel pretty dated now tbh.

resm · 19/03/2024 19:30

Another vote for Callum. Diminutive Cal for either name is cute too.
