Osian, Persy and ?

Baby number 3 due soon. We currently have Osian and Persy (short for Persephone) and are completely out of ideas for names that fit. Osian is the only boys name we've ever agreed on so it was fortunate Persy's a girl.
However, we're now getting towards crunch time and can't find the perfect third name. We don't know what we're having, I think we could probably settle on a girl's name if that's what we have but cannot think of a boy's name.
Please offer any and all suggestions to help us out.

Your first two might also be

Ossian

Persepoly

( I would know one of each of these ! )

mdinbc · 16/03/2024 19:59

Hmmm, you have a Queen of the Underworld, and a boy name meaning 'little deer'. I would go with a bird name, or something sky or star related.

how about Arne or Adler, meaning eagle?

My OH made a game out of this for us. It was fun and it helped us settle on a name.

Step 1: You both write a list of 26 names, 1 for each letter of the alphabet (this is not as easy as it seems. Don't be afraid to put in some silly/joke names if you're struggling on a particular letter, it'll make it more enjoyable).
Step 2: Put each name on an individual scrap of paper, so you each have a pile of your 26 names in front of you.
Step 3: Pull out one name from your pile, and one from your partners. Agree which of the two names you prefer, place it in the 'winners pile'
Step 4: Repeat step 3 until you have 26 names in the winners pile. Discard the other 26.
Step 5: Pull out two names from the winners pile. Which one do you prefer? This time it's 'winner stays on'. Agree which name is the best, discard the other name and pull a new one from the pile to compare to the winning name. Continue until you have found the name you both like the best.

We played this game over a long evening meal with wine, and it's how we found the first and middle name for DS as a pairing came out and we couldn't choose the winner of the two. It just worked!

Makes it a bit lighthearted, means you both have to come to the table with a prepared list, throw in a few hilarious/joke ones for fun.
