Just thought I would tell you that my DD is called Lila and I think it is a fab name. I just thought I'd post as people are always asking for ideas and I always want to say Lila but don't as it is a relatively uncommon name and would identify me.

So I thought I would name change just the once to give you all the benefit of my good taste

Feel free to use it!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Love Eve, Jack, Tom and Lila. Damn it even passes the card test. Now I feel like i'm missing out if I don't have a little Lila in the future.

At nursery there is a Lilah and a Lilac and also know of a little girl called Delilah, nn Lila

It's a pretty name.

Ledodgy · 25/03/2008 21:58

If I was to have a fourth child (which i'm not) and it was a girl i'd call her lila I love it! Is it the eqivelent of Eve in legends? I have an Eve already!

sophierosie · 25/03/2008 21:57

My dd is Olivia and when she was little used to call herself lila (pronounced lee-la). She saw some video footage of herself the other day and loved that she called herself a different name - I used to love calling her Lila!

WelliesAndPyjamas · 25/03/2008 21:57

it's my mother's name

and yes, you have excellent taste

it's of arabic origin, I believe

Other versions are Leyla/Lejla and Layla/Lajla (both very very popoular for girls over here at the moment).
Another very pretty name along the same lines I hear sometimes here is Delila (pronounced De-lil-a) and which if pronounced in the way we are used to (De-lie-la, as in the Tom Jones song) means something entirely different: a drunked waste of space!

ja9 · 25/03/2008 21:55

love it!

Piffle · 25/03/2008 21:54

I love lila as a name

pootleflump · 25/03/2008 21:51

There's a Lila in dd's ballet class, I wondered whether it was a shortening for something else. It's very pretty.

slinkiemalinki · 25/03/2008 17:12

Lovely name although shame Kate Moss got there first.

wheresthehamster · 25/03/2008 16:18

I love it. Isn't Lila the equivalent of Eve in some stories and legends?

dizzydixies · 25/03/2008 16:10

its kate moss' daughters name

pn lie-la as in lilo but with an 'a'

artichokes · 25/03/2008 16:05

Do you pronouce it Lie-la or Lil-a?

alfiesbabe · 25/03/2008 16:02

Haven't heard of it before so definitely ticks the unusual box!

dizzydixies · 25/03/2008 15:58

I think its very much up there with Lola, Lily etc at the moment

all equally pretty imo

Radley · 25/03/2008 15:50

Never heard of it to be honest, but I love it, I also have Elizabeth as the middle name to one of my dd's.

MumtoLila · 25/03/2008 15:44

Lila Daphne Elizabeth (after her grandma's). I've not met any others, though would love it if other people picked it (would see it as a validation of my good taste!)

Aah Lila is a beautiful name, it's very pretty and feminine.

Does Lila have a middle name?
