Jude Joseph or Finlay Joseph

Which name do you prefer?

We do not care about popularity, so this is not an issue for us at all.

Joseph is a family name so this is not subject to change.

Jude Joseph. Lovely.

berolina · 24/03/2008 22:47

Jude is lovely, so is Joseph, but I'm not entirely sure about the 'J' 'J' combination. I'm afraid I don't like Finlay.

abigaillockhart · 24/03/2008 22:44

Also, there's 'Finley the Fire Engine' now. It may not bother you at all but DS has a friend Finlay (gorgeous boy) and it really winds his mum up!! (and I do want to sing the theme tune at him )

kitson08 · 24/03/2008 22:29

Joseph Finlay

ladymariner · 24/03/2008 22:25

Finlay Joseph for me, always liked the name finlay.

abigaillockhart · 24/03/2008 22:20

I have a friend who's DS is Jude (nearly 4) - just texted her and she said she has never had a Jude Law comment; just a few 'hopeless causes' ones (patron Saint of) but she quite likes that

ja9 · 24/03/2008 21:17

i love fin even more

dd would have been finn (irish version)

carmenelectra · 24/03/2008 20:42

Ellen, think Jude is more boyish than girly, but it would be cute on a girl! It was only the celeb thing that put me off. Otherwise, its my very favourite boys name

EllenJane · 24/03/2008 20:38

Thanks everyone. It looks like half and half. Great!!

If we go for Jude Joseph he will definitely NOT be JJ. Yeuk!

I worry about Jude being a bit celeb-y? A bit Keira/Sienna iykwim.

Love the nick-name Fin for Finlay. I didn't know it's a girls' name too?? I've just checked on loads of name sites and nowhere does it say it's female. I've been told Jude is girly too. Humph.

Im wishing now that i was brave enough to go for Jude, and not be be bothered that people thought i was a twatty Jude Law fan

Piffle · 24/03/2008 20:34

tens... That's Aussies for you

Piffle · 24/03/2008 20:33

finlay Joseph
I have a finbar tagged as Finn.

tensmum · 24/03/2008 20:32

Finlay was in Home and Away, and she was a girl. I am sure Finlay is the girls version.

Flamesparrow · 24/03/2008 20:29

Finlay here

carmenelectra · 24/03/2008 20:18

Finlay looks like aboys version to me?

tensmum · 24/03/2008 20:17

can I ask is finlay the girls spelling or boys?

carmenelectra · 24/03/2008 20:16

I would say Jude Joseph defo. Its lovely.

I really really wanted Jude for ds 2 as i adore the name but JUde Law put me off. I was really worried that people would think i was a Jude Law fan and id named him after him! You know like girls after Kylie etc! I wouldnt mind but Jude isnt even his real name.

But go for it, as Jude is such a great name. In the end i went for my second choice, Jonah, which i do love too!

BigBadMouse · 24/03/2008 20:11

Not a huge fan of either name but I really, really, really don't like Finlay - not because of its popularity, just don't like it for some reason ....sorry

However Jude Joseph could be shortened to 'JJ' which I think is rather nice...and Jude is far nice than Finlay IMO

puffling · 24/03/2008 20:07

Jude Joseph is better

Greensleeves · 24/03/2008 19:57

Jude and Finlay are my two favourite names!

(because they are the names of the two most beautiful and sparky little boys I know)
