HELP!! Baby boy names!

Hello All!

I need help desperately. I am pregnant with baby no.3. We don't know what we are having. We have our girls name picked out, that is no problem. We are in desperate need of a boys name that we both love.

We already have 2 children, a boy named Frederick who goes by Fred and our little girl Evelina.

Some names we love but are not sure on to give an idea of our 'style'-
Ziggy
Osmond/Ozzy
Elwood/ Woody
Rudy
Sonny

It really needs to be unique, I love Fred's name but there is 4 in his class so we opted for a more unusual choice in Evelina and so far haven't come across another.

I feel like I have been through every baby list, forum, youtube videos and book going and nothing seems to fit. Please help!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Did you know Ziggy was originally a nickname for Sigmund (as in Sigmund Freud) ?

It sort of fits the old man nickname trend like Albie for Albert, Laurie for Laurence trend.

Rudy short for Rudolph is similar (but I have a hard time overlooking the reindeer in its full version).

Oscar or Henry would be nice but they are more popular.

How about the name Remy? If you can look past the ratatouille association!

Ozzie is great, also romilly. Also Rory, Aurora

I don't think we have the same taste but from other people I know with potentially similar taste, I'm wondering if you'd like:
Monty/Montgomery
Rafferty
Mac
Blaise
Rory

Some great names, thanks for your help! I really love Monty but not quite sold on Montgomery and my husband is adamant he would like a longer version.

I’m not small minded. There are plenty of nice, underused and unique names out there that aren’t simply plain ridiculous and don’t scream that as parents you’re trying to make a point.

I would argue that you are small minded if you can't come to terms with people like different names. One of the reasons we can't use Ziggy is because our friend already used it. There's also another one at my children's school, so it clearly is a name to use.
You could have just been helpful and offered some suggestions seen as you know 'plenty of nice, underused and unique names.
Like I said, it is very much your opinion- which you are entitled to but it offers no help to my initial question.

I suppose your comment and judgement says more about you than me. Small minded and times are a changing, both me and my husband work in very corporate rolls and names are very different these days. I didn't ask for your opinion on our choices, I asked for inspiration. Have a lovely day :)

I can name my child what I like

I sometimes wish we were one of those countries that has an approved list of names, and won't allow people to name babies really stupid names like Ziggy.

MaloneMeadow · 20/02/2024 13:48

Why does it matter to you so much that there is no other child with your son’s name? It is a selfish move from parents who get a kick out of being ‘yoonique’ and I’ll stand by that. A 20 year old Ziggy wanting a professional career is going to stand out like a sore thumb, and not for the reasons you want it to.

Elle20244 · 20/02/2024 13:45

I can name my child what I like, whilst I appreciate your opinion. It is only just an opinion. Not all names are for everyone and that's okay.
Your comment was largely unhelpful but thank you for your time.

MaloneMeadow · 20/02/2024 13:43

You absolutely cannot name a child Ziggy. There’s unique and then there’s just being selfish on a child who has to carry that with them for life.
