Rosalie
or Rosaline
or Rosalind

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/02/2024 23:44

Adore Rosamund,it’s my fave of your choices as it always sounds so “English Country” genteel yet romantic to me - but I hate the nn Roz and pretty Rosalie does avoid that ( think the nicer nn Rose is more likely for that one since people often shorten a name to the first syllable).

Cecily has a kind of similar feel to Rosamund for me so I like that too and Felicity has a boho, quirky charm.

although I think Madelief would be fine if you are Dutch , the spelling/ pronunciation would be a bit of a hassle in the UK compared to your other picks. Not keen on your other choices - Evangeline and Angelica sound a bit fancy/frilly to me, whereas Bridget goes the other way and sounds a little harsh/ plain.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 20/02/2024 22:36

Love Cecily, my current favourite.

Like all the rest except Bridget because I used to know an absolutely horrible one!

beyourownchampion · 20/02/2024 18:19

I have a Felicity, my third daughter. Her name means ‘happy’ she is 12 and the only one in her secondary school. I’ve always thought it was a lovely name and still do…
Her friends call her Fliss, or Lissy, which are also really cute nicknames in my opinion.

MasterOfNobody · 20/02/2024 15:28

Is Madelief pronounced “Made-leaf” or “Mad-a-leaf”?

shoopshoopdedoo · 20/02/2024 15:17

I really like Bridget.

Personally, I’m not keen on the others, but they are all objectively nice enough!

MonkeypuzzleClimber · 19/02/2024 15:11

Evangeline with the nn Genie, or Rosalie.
Bridget is growing on me; I saw a documentary about St Bridget and she rocks :)

BoleynMemories13 · 19/02/2024 11:48

Felicity is the only one I like.

Bobskeleton · 18/02/2024 22:58

Angelica makes me think of the less than angelic Rugrats character

PickledScrump · 18/02/2024 22:55

I have a felicity so obviously I love it. Also love evangeline.

What about Vivienne

theduchessofspork · 18/02/2024 20:22

Bridget, Cecily or Felicity - all great in very different ways.

If you want unusual go for Bridget, as Felicity and Cecily (in its various forms are getting quite popular.

Verity might be another option ?

Evangeline - no because she’ll be Eve/Eva or Evie day to day and there are millions of them, also lots of Lenas and similar L names

Madelief - it made me think Magaluf so hard no

Angelica - no because Angie is awful

Rosalie, Rosamund - no, too many Rose names

JustJessi · 18/02/2024 20:13

Lovely list! My fave is Evangeline

jenny38 · 18/02/2024 19:52

Rosalie is nice. I like Rosa too

Happyher · 18/02/2024 19:50

my 30 yr old DD is Rosalie. I always think it’s such a pretty name

KThnxBye · 18/02/2024 19:48

Ottilie is very sweet, but it’s not more unusual. Ottilie is about to enter the top 100 (predicted when the new data lands, but currently just outside). Every single other name on that list is currently less popular than Ottilie, with Felicity being second. Bridget is outside the top 700.

Evangeline - I really like this, but I don’t like the shortenings, Evie/Angel etc are so much more blah and Evangeline is very strong.
Felicity - it ps nice but a bit too frilly for me.
Cecily - is very nice, but I don’t love female adaptations of male names, especially ones made so by just adding an a or y.
Madelief - if this is your heritage, it’s lovely.
Angelica - again lovely as a long name but I don’t enjoy the shortenings.
Bridget - is pretty ironic and cool actually.
Rosalie - feels like a made up name from Twilight and will date.
Rosamund - I like a lot.

For related/similar feel names, would you consider

Rosalind
Annaliese
Jocelyn
Constance
Vivienne
Celine
Genevieve

FayCarew · 18/02/2024 19:47

Madelief - I'd check that it is actually a name. If you got it from a baby name site it might not be.
Daisy is madeliefje according to the online translator

Ikeameatballs · 18/02/2024 19:41

Felicity is my favourite

TheOriginalEmu · 18/02/2024 19:33

Evangeline- pretty, but long but that gives lots of scope for nicknames
Felicity- not bad, tho Flick from
neighbiurs put me off, it has so many nice nicknames flick is awful 😂
Cecily- not my taste
Madelief - Dutch name- I don’t know the pronunciation, so I can’t say
Angelica- nice
Bridget- not for me
Rosalie- pretty!
Rosamund- prefer Rosalie

FlatWhite2 · 18/02/2024 18:22

These are all really cute but not so sure on Bridget (too many old Bridies about)

love the name Ottilie which seems to fit with your choices and a little more unusual?

FayCarew · 18/02/2024 18:22

Evangeline - another Evie, not keen
Felicity- a bit long but nice
Cecily - not keen
Madelief - Dutch name - not seen it before so not sure
Angelica - it's ok
Bridget - like
Rosalie - not keen
Rosamund - ok

Bridget or Felicity.

Marcipex · 18/02/2024 17:34

I know nearly as many Evangelines as Evelyns. So I wouldn’t go for that.

Cecily is particularly pretty.

Nicebloomers · 18/02/2024 17:28

Lovely list. Felicity and Bridget are my favourites.

SummaLuvin · 18/02/2024 15:05

Evangeline - love it
Felicity - not fussed, I know a cat called Felicity (Fliss)
Cecily - dislike
Madelief - Dutch name - unfamiliar with this is pronunciation
Angelica - eliiiiiiza, otherwise not a fan makes me think of the horrid blonde girl on the rugrats
Bridget - love it
Rosalie - like it, but makes me think of Twilight
Rosamund - like it

MaloneMeadow · 18/02/2024 15:04

Love Cecily!! I’ve only ever met one, such a gorgeous name. Evangeline is a close second

peaceinourtime · 18/02/2024 15:04

Felicity or Rosalie from your list
