I like adeline and Ada for short

NachosAndCheese · 13/02/2024 19:56

Not a fan and agree that it just blends into the billions of Ava/Evie/Ivy/Isla names.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 13/02/2024 19:37

It's a lovely name. I know a few little Ada's

determinedtomakethiswork · 13/02/2024 19:36

What about Edie?

AiryFlyingFairy · 13/02/2024 19:35

I like it but prefer spelt as: Ayda.

DuchessOfSausage · 13/02/2024 19:33

Aworldofmyown · 13/02/2024 19:25

I LOVE Adaline!!

I don't. I don't even know how to say it.

DuchessOfSausage · 13/02/2024 19:33

@TedWilson , Ada/Ader or Adey to not be associated with 'ADRIAN!!!'

UnderstatedElegance · 13/02/2024 19:31

@VoleChomper - exactly this!

Colinfromaccounts24 · 13/02/2024 19:28

It’s a nice name, I do know LOADS of them though - I know of 6 Adas who are all 5 and under. But that might not bother you. I’m in southeast England.

Aworldofmyown · 13/02/2024 19:25

I LOVE Adaline!!

Aworldofmyown · 13/02/2024 19:25

I like it, prefer the spelling Ayda though.

TedWilson · 13/02/2024 19:22

Sorry to be the doom monger but it's a very Brummie name for a man. Short for Adrian. Say it in a Brummie accent. If you still like it then go for it!

motherofbantams · 13/02/2024 19:22

I have an Ada, an Adaline :) She is perfect. Strong and brave and bright

DuchessOfSausage · 13/02/2024 19:19

Not keen. The Ada Lovelace connection is a plus but it's so similar to Ava which is overused and I'm bored of the Evie/Eva/Ava/Ivy/Edie/Ida/Ada/Ayla trend.

ReturnOfFatBack · 13/02/2024 18:31

It's one of those kind of names where if the bearer is really cool and edgily beautiful the overall impact can be stunning. On an average looking or plain person it's just going to make everything worse. I'd be a horrific Ada. Grin

CaptainCallisto · 13/02/2024 18:27

In the primary school I work in, we currently have four girls called Ada/Aida (2 in Y1, 1 in Reception, and 1 in nursery), so it's definitely very popular in some areas. I know that doesn't bother some people, but it's useful in case it does!

HowNice23 · 13/02/2024 18:22

It's the new Ella Gracie Ava... There will be more than one in her class, I know two under two. Pretty but not going to be distinctive not that that really matters!

goingtotown · 13/02/2024 18:19

Ada is ok I prefer Ava.

MumofSpud · 13/02/2024 18:12

kimberly489 · 13/02/2024 17:10

One letter off from being Asda. Sorry.. I don't want to be named after a supermarket.

You can't be named after something if the original word is different Hmm

Highfour · 13/02/2024 17:59

Great name and immediately reminds me of Ada Lovelace.

APurpleSquirrel · 13/02/2024 17:49

This would have been DSs name if he'd been a girl. Love it, ever since learning about Ada Lovelace.

EveryKneeShallBow · 13/02/2024 17:32

Was my beautiful, kind Nani’s name. Ada Lydia. I would have used it, but it would have been very Younique when I had my DC.

Purpleavocado · 13/02/2024 17:19

I like it, I prefer Ada to Ida.

HolyMoly24 · 13/02/2024 17:17

Ooh as PP said, I think I prefer Ida too. It's a bit 'cooler' imo

SallyWD · 13/02/2024 17:12

I really like it. Simple, beautiful, strong. I prefer Ida though.
