Do you know any boys called Osian?

Just that really 😊love the name but in the last few years it’s become popular and I don’t want a name that will become too popular (I know it’s a bit of an unknown!)
i have a name that was unusual when I was born and now it’s everywhere!
FYI we live outside Wales for context so guessing it’s not as usual in England 🤔

There's a minister in the Irish government called Ossian but people continue to get it wrong and call him Oisín.
It must be really annoying.
But to be fair he is the only Ossian I have ever heard of.

Or just hold down your finger on the letter on an Apple touch screen keyboard and it gives you all the diacritic marks to scroll through @mum11970 (assuming you are on a phone or tablet if in bed). Does Android not do similar?

The one I know is Welsh, about 30. He goes by 'Osh' as a nn

My children are/were in clan Ossian at high school but I've never met anyone with that name.

@Beyondbeyondbeyond , the stress is different. Oisín is more Osh-EEN, Osian is OSH-ann (c.f. LEW-is/Lou-ISE)

Actually, the stress patterns of OIsín and similar names depends on what part of Ireland you're in. I think @Beyondbeyondbeyond is right and the NI pronunciation could sound quite similar to the Welsh one? Bit of a difference at the end all right. But still OSH-een vs OSH-ann?
They're different versions of the aame name anyway I think.

My son is an Osian - we live in the North of England and we've never met another one. People love the name and English people can easily learn how to pronounce it.

@JessPess , it's common for Welsh speaking men. I know many aged between 30 and 60.

Lovely name, I think you’re right and it is being used more but it’s not common.
Having said that, I think I know of about 5 that are aged 3 or under, mostly from baby/toddler groups (I’m in Bristol, so close to the border) and one of my friend’s sons is also called that (in Sheffield).

I think its in the top 10 boys names in wales this year. Loads in Wales. Never heard it in the many years I lived in England though.

You could go for Taliesin, which I love or Sior. Osian is definitely one of the easier Welsh names to pronounce. I love Lois for a girl, there’s no chance of that being pronounced correctly in England 🤣
