Phoebe or Artemis

I have a three year old daughter with a Greek name, though maybe not recognisably so. I want to choose another Greek name for my daughter who will be born in the next few weeks.

We've narrowed the list down to Phoebe and Artemis, so it'll definitely be one of those names. The problem is I slightly lean towards one and my husband slightly leans towards the other.

Just wondering if you had to pick between the two, which would you pick?

Artemis

Fabulous name.

Lots of Phoebes around now, although it is nice. When it comes to nns I do prefer Artie to Pheebs also.

My daughter has Greek heritage and is Phoebe ( and she’s definitely not wet !) Artemis is awful sorry. Although our Greek relatives don’t really recognise Phoebe as being a Greek name.

Artemis

Phoebe. Artemis is pretty but I suspect would end up being shortened, so have a think about what you (and others) would shorten it to. Arti?

Phoebe is a bit wet imo. Artemis is very cool. Conjures up a feisty dd!!

Phoebe 100%. Agree with PP that Artemis seems a bit try hard

Dependabledentures · 23/01/2024 07:40

Phoebe seems more effortless. I know greek myth names are on the rise but feels a bit try hard. Plus pheebs is such a cute nn

Onelife2024 · 23/01/2024 07:36

Definitely Phoebe!

DocOck · 23/01/2024 07:35

Phoebe. I don't like Artemis at all.

Artemis.
