I am so stuck. I have girls' names galore, please give me nice slightly arty boys' names that won't get hugely popular in a year or two

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
harpsichordcarrier · 16/03/2008 23:45

H you have a filthy mind....

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:41

he'd be known as strap-on at school. giving you girls was god's way of preventing this, you know...

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:40

boo. Pen is a cool name, i think.

harpsichordcarrier · 16/03/2008 23:40

oh franny will love it
I really wanted it but dh said much the same as you
though as I had two girls, it was all somewhat hypothetical

snice · 16/03/2008 23:37

Just Googled him-he's really a Rupert

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:36

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:36

harpsichordcarrier · 16/03/2008 23:35

ACTUALLY! talking of polar explorers... what about Pen? as in Pen Hadow? he's great. i think Pen is a great name, is it short for something manly or will it be Penander or something equally stupid?

snice · 16/03/2008 23:32

Sorry-my fave boys name is Hector but its more of an polar explorer than an arty type. How about Quentin?-I used to know a very handsome Quentin

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:30

francis is a lovely name, isn't it snice? that's the best one really...

snice · 16/03/2008 23:29

MrsJohnCusack · 16/03/2008 23:26

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:26

snice · 16/03/2008 23:25

Have we had Arlo?

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:23

jedediah. franny won't choose frank, just to spite me.

MrsJohnCusack · 16/03/2008 23:20

how about Ozymandias (snigger)

Rowingboat · 16/03/2008 22:38

Cluedo?

SoMuchToBits · 16/03/2008 22:35

Oh good, PYBF. Although actually someone in my family (who married an Ozias) didn't like it. When their son was born, she rushed out to register his name as soon as possible so he wasn't an Ozias (he turned out to be a Desmond!)

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 16/03/2008 22:33

I like Ozias

SoMuchToBits · 16/03/2008 22:31

I'm still going for Ozias!

Tickle · 16/03/2008 22:27

Loved Arlo, Ludo, Ingo, and Ivo - but they don't work in danish so vetoed by DH. Finally got a Theo

Tickle · 16/03/2008 22:24

Nice to see our ds's first and middle names getting approving nods thru the thread

Not sure if mentioned:

Aumale - very frrench
Hubble - oh so scientific
Kingsley - sort of swishy literary. Would have to be nicknamed til coming of age tho...

SoMuchToBits · 16/03/2008 22:23

Ok then, I'll think of some more from my family - let's see.....

There were three brothers called Wallace, Horace and Elbridge. None of those are currently over-popular.

Or how about Harold (not Harry) or Herbert?

Eric? Leslie? (I don't like those two by the way, but they are not currently popular).

pointedegg · 16/03/2008 22:21

In fact, Osmo would cover several bases
