They are both unusual for babies, but I favour Melvyn.

I prefer Melvyn, too. But it will always bring to mind the Beatie ads (For BT: the grandson fails all his O-levels except for Sociology. Grandmother Beatie's response was "You got an 'ology? But that means you're a scientist! Ahhh, my grandson the scientist." Melvyn was the grandfather's name.)
