So far i have got the following....

Robyn
Rose
Holly

and erm, thats it

Could you give me your opinions on these names and maybe suggest some more for me, i'm a bit stuck and OH isn't being very helpful! We like traditional names, preferably one that can't be shortened.

How about Mia or Kitty?

bluenosesaint · 05/03/2008 10:14

Hello Solo

Rarebreed: Im not keen on Robyn (the only Robins that i know are male and it's a masculine name to me for that reason)
Rose - beautiful. and very underused as a first name.
Holly - i really like this name, very cute.

For other traditional names, how about:

Lucy
Hope
Kate
Lily
May
Grace
Alice
Charlotte (probably would get shortened though ...)
Amy
Chloe
Emily
Beth
Leah

Good luck

One of my friends has a Lilly Violet, another Rebecca Rose.
My daughter is named after a tree!
Flower nmames seem to be really in right now don't they!

We did consider Miriam, Hannah, Grace, Lydia and she was definitely going to be a Rani for ages but we changed our minds before she was born, and she doesn't look like a Rani(which means Queen in Hindi), she's really fair skinned.

Thank you for the welcomes!

Rita?

AdeleFielder · 03/03/2008 21:33

I'm new today and never done anything like this before... But my little girl is called Larna and we generally get quite positive feedback from people on that one, being a bit more unusual. Hopefully we'll have a boy next and he'll be Aaron.

JayneF · 03/03/2008 21:11

If you think it is a boy, her name has to be Hope!!

LaundryFairy · 03/03/2008 21:07

I always associate nice people I have met with nice names:

Carla
Renee
Eleanor
Olivia

just a few....

lou33 · 03/03/2008 20:56

ds1 would have been betsy rose

ds2 probably willow tiger

Hulababy · 03/03/2008 20:40

Nice flower names: Poppy, Lily, Rosie, Daisy.

I have a Mollie and I still really like her name.

My favourite name at the moment is Matilda, Tilly for short. I also love the name Martha.

vicsta · 03/03/2008 20:35

Kate or Lucie? Traditional & Short

cameroonmama · 03/03/2008 16:22

We have a Daisy. But I do like Rose. DS2 would have been a Martha. I love it. We have a friend called Anya and the dc call her onion

Pinkchampagne · 03/03/2008 16:19

I like Rose from your list. Other girls names I like are Iris, Martha & Anya.

Hi solo and welcome!

rarebreed, I love Holly, and Rose is lovely too. Also from the names given so far I love Violet and I think Alice is really pretty, not too common either.

I think my favourite of them is Violet.

Mung · 03/03/2008 15:07

Hi Solo

solo · 03/03/2008 15:05

There are such lovely names around.
My little girl was nameless for 3 weeks! and we finally decided on something really unusual and everyone loves it...Not telling though!

Hello, by the way! this is my first contribution to MN.

I'm mum to a 9.5 year old boy(who had his name 5 months before he was born) and 14 month old girl. Nice to say Hi to you all.

rarebreed · 03/03/2008 14:46

i'm hoping that if they find girly bits on the 4D scan i'll have enough time to re-adjust before she arrives

Mung · 03/03/2008 14:41

Give up on the girls names then

rarebreed · 03/03/2008 14:36

Mung i'm secretly convinced i'm having a boy. Have told OH and he is convinced too. I haven't even been tempted to look at girly things in Mothercare!

OP posts:
nailpolish · 03/03/2008 14:35

i like Holly

Mung · 03/03/2008 14:32

Rarebreed, I had the same problem...
We agreed on a boys name straight away for 1st pregnancy and didn't have a girls name. Fortunately, Milo came along.
2nd pregnancy we agreed on a girls name and didn't have a boys name. Fortunately, Esmé came along!

Perhaps its a sign that you are having a boy

rarebreed · 03/03/2008 14:27

Rose Kathryn
Rose Susannah
Rose Elizabeth (random name but i've always loved it, just think its too long to have as a first name)

OP posts:
rarebreed · 03/03/2008 14:26

love Ruby OH hates it. Its weird, i always thought it would be so easy to pick a girls name. We agreed on the boys name we wanted straight away (Harry) weird...

Mung · 03/03/2008 14:25

The names you have are very pretty. Why not go with them? If your list gets too long, you wont be able to decide. I like Ruby, thats quite traditional too.
