Eliza is wonderful

Elise is easily confused with the many girls called Elsie around today!

What about Elodie or Eloise as similar options?

StillWantingADog · 04/02/2024 09:53

I genuinely like both.

Eliza is more classic /timeless

the only thing that puts me off Elise is that I’d want it pronounced Elize- would some people say Elisse? Not sure

serin · 03/02/2024 23:07

Eliza

Notellinganyone · 01/02/2024 21:09

Eliza.

Wavessea · 29/09/2023 22:30

Elise is lovely

im not sure why people are saying it’s faddy
it’s not a popular name and never has been particularly popular

and it doesn’t have to be pronounced like Elize if it’s in the uk

Rachaelc1981 · 27/09/2023 21:50

Elise makes me think of the film Insidious !

Daisyhillsareblooming · 23/09/2023 08:08

Eliza by far , a very pretty classy name .

SallyWD · 23/09/2023 08:06

Eliza

I love both! Both were on the shortlist for dd2

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 23/09/2023 08:00

I prefer Eliza because the z is better than an s sound.

Elise is also pronounced with a 'z' sound. It's 'eleez', not 'eleess'.

I prefer Eliza, but Elise is nice too.

Caffeinequeen91 · 23/09/2023 07:57

Eliza because it’s strong and beautiful.
Elise I always think it’s Elsie…..

lls1990 · 23/09/2023 07:53

We're having a boy, but Elise was our chosen girl's name. Working in a school for over 13 years and have only come across 1 Elise in that time. So gutted we don't get to use the name, especially as we really struggle with boy's names!

SaylessSayless · 19/09/2023 23:14

I really don't like Eliza at all.

So Elise (or Elizabeth which is lovely).

afrikat · 19/09/2023 23:14

Eliza

morag1234 · 19/09/2023 23:13

Oh I really love both (sorry, not helpful)

TheBeesKnee · 19/09/2023 23:12

If DS had been a girl he'd have been Eliza!

Elise is a nice name too.

theduchessofspork · 19/09/2023 23:10

Eliza

I think a lot of French versions of names sound naff in English

Honeyroar · 18/09/2023 21:29

I am clearly outnumbered on here, but I much prefer Elise. There are so many Elizas.

I love Elise. I think it's so pretty. Eliza I hear quite frequently on girls aged about 5 to 8

Billlio · 18/09/2023 21:26

Elise - I think it’s more gentle sounding which is my usual preference for names of either gender

cptartapp · 18/09/2023 19:49

Elise.

BonjourCrisette · 18/09/2023 19:40

Definitely Eliza.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 18/09/2023 19:35

Elizabeth nn Eliza.
Much nicer and a classic.

LastNightAPandaSavedMyLife · 08/09/2023 12:23
