Baby Name Help!!!!

Rebecca1803 · 16/08/2023 02:00

Hello,
My partner and I just can't decide on a name for our baby boy.
We already have a daughter called Amelia so we'd like something that flows nicely with that.
We have four names in the running and we'd like to know which you think is best.
The four names are:-

Arthur
Alfie (not sure with this whether to have Alfred or Alfie)
Stanley
Henry

Thank you in advance for any help.

Henry
Stanley
Alfie (as a nickname for Alfred)

Not so keen on Arthur

Henry goes really well. I like Arthur too but prefer Henry with Amelia as it gives them different initials.

DesertSnow · 19/02/2024 12:22

I think Henry goes best with Amelia. Congrats!

I wouldn't worry too much about whether the name goes with the sibling's, it's more about how it sounds with the surname. He'll be Arthur Surname far more than he'll be 'Amelia and Arthur'.

Daffodilwoman · 18/08/2023 09:28

I don’t think any of those names go with Amelia.
They are all very old man, of the moment names, whereas Amelia although not modern, has been popular for around 20 plus years. Those boys names have not.
I think something like Oscar or Isaac sounds better.

Henry def goes best. I have an Alfie but he's 10 and it's super common now. Loved Arthur but dh vetoed so named our Christmas elf Arthur instead 😂

funnyoldonion · 17/08/2023 23:11

Henry

Lovebeingamummy2 · 17/08/2023 23:04

Alfie or Arthur for me

Bumblebee1988 · 17/08/2023 23:01

I'd say Henry.

Also like Alfie but it's extremely popular. I love the name Alvie 🩵

RoRosmama · 17/08/2023 21:45

Henry.
I also like Elliott, Noah and Sebastian. I know those weren't on your list but I wanted to throw them out there Grin

Goldbar · 17/08/2023 21:39

Henry goes best. Other names that flow are:

  • Amelia and Jacob
  • Amelia and Rufus
  • Amelia and Thomas
MMCQ · 17/08/2023 21:37

Stuff that. Archie is what you are looking for!

Notamum12345577 · 17/08/2023 21:17

We have an Alfie and Amelia.😁

Coffeeandcakemum · 17/08/2023 12:43

Henry 😊

Clearevening · 17/08/2023 00:37

Arthur

mathanxiety · 17/08/2023 00:36

I like Arthur and Henry.

Not keen on the others.

Theoldwoman · 17/08/2023 00:18

Amelia and Henry.

I wouldn’t use another A name. Stanley is too Corrie St for me.

ellenpartridge · 17/08/2023 00:08

Henry

UsingChangeofName · 17/08/2023 00:08

Well, much easier in life for siblings to have different initials, which rules out 2 of the names, leaving Henry and Stanley.

I personally and mot really keen on either, but I think Stanley is a bit more fashionable - which some would think of as a positive and others wouldn't want it to be a more popular name amongst peers.
I think it depends as well, if you mind 'Stan' . I don't think Henrys tend to be shortened much but I am aware Stanleys do and read on here some people don't like the natural shortening of the given name.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 16/08/2023 23:47

Definitely Henry.
John
William
Michael
Samuel
Daniel

Rebecca1803 · 16/08/2023 22:04

Thank you everyone for your opinions and help, I think its definitely helped me dwindle it down.

Henry goes best, I’d avoid another A name as it’s a bit matchy

AnnieFarmer · 16/08/2023 18:29

Henry

AngryCasper · 16/08/2023 18:24

I like Henry the best.
Not keen on Alfie.. it’s way overused where I’m from.
