Hi all, currently expecting a baby girl and we’re stuck between Lydia or Lucy. My name is Louise so I wanted to have an L name for my little girl, husband prefers Lucy but I like Lydia!

All opinions welcome 😊

Lydia.

Lucy sounds to close to loo seat! (Even more so since nobody seems to use the 't' at the end of words anymore...grumble grumble!

Lydia

Lydia

@Milkyway42 love the idea of Elizabeth with Libby used as a nickname. There are so many more options later on with that too 💕

NooNaNa · 27/07/2023 17:15

Lydia is beautiful.

Lucy is sweet, but how about Lucinda?

Pallisers · 27/07/2023 17:11

I love Lydia. Would have used it if I had another girl.

BatheInTheLight · 27/07/2023 17:10

I like Lucy. We were going to pick that IF we'd had a DD.

Lydia could easily be bullied when she's older and called Chlamydia 😆

aintnospringchicken · 27/07/2023 17:05

Lucy.

Ohmylovejune · 27/07/2023 16:59

Lucia said Loo-chia. Love it

mistermagpie · 27/07/2023 16:58

Lydia was my favourite girls name ever, I love it. But my SIL used it while I was pregnant so my daughter is called something else. So on that basis you must use it for me!

I also like Laura, I think it's really underused these days but is a a lovely name.

Lydia

Thanks all for the responses 😊 I still love Lydia but husband has just said he’s gone right off it. Ugh!

Lydia is gorgeous OP... but I have to ask...why do you want to have an 'L' name just because yours begins with 'L'? There are so many lovely names that are off limits to you if you stick to this rather unimaginative stance 🤷‍♀️

I think I just like the idea of us having similar names, I realise that sounds a bit wet written down! We’ve thought of other names but have really struggled with girls names.
I’ve thought about Elizabeth with nn Libby which I love

Lydia! How about Lydia Louise!

And Liddy or Liddy Lou for nn. 😊

I like Lucy too though.

I prefer Lucy. I like Lydia, but I don’t like it when people shorten it to ‘Lids’.

Much better than when people shorten Lucy to 'Loose' 😨 which is what my niece has been unfortunately saddled with her whole life 🤦‍♀️

Theoldwoman · 27/07/2023 15:17

I prefer Lucille to Lucy.

Lydia is wonderful.

My favourite L name is Laura.

crabette · 27/07/2023 14:58

Lydia is my fave - or Lucia, or Luna.

Not as keen on Lucy.

OopsieeDaisy · 27/07/2023 14:31

Lydia is lovely, I also love Lucia.

Grantanow · 27/07/2023 11:48

Go for both - Lydia Lucy - then she has a choice later.

geoger · 27/07/2023 11:46

Lydia is really lovely - go for it.
or how about Luna or Lana?

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 27/07/2023 11:43

Lucy or Lucille.

Also Lisa, Laine, Laura

AdaColeman · 27/07/2023 11:41

Lydia is my favourite from your list.

Lucy is pretty too. Some other thoughts...
Lana

Lavinia
Lucinda (my favourite)
