How many Alex's do you know?

I know none, not one Alexander and not one Alexandra and it is the name we have chosen (depending on gender) for LO, but just recently I've seen Alexander/Alexander/Alexia on a lot of names threads so was wondering if it's goign to suddenly be everywhere if I use it.

I did this with ds1's name. Didn't know a single one, had never taught one now every other child has the same name as him.

I know 5 Alexs ranging from 15mo to 10yo, all boys.

I have an Alex, aged 3 (boy). I also know a grown up lady (doesnt that sound funny) called Alex, about my age (35) and another little boy called Alex who is about 5. Thats it, I think it is a lovely name (obviously)

I'm alex, 33. I deliberately chose a pretty flowery name for my daughter because of this! I like it now, but growing up with a unisex name wasn't that fun for me.

it's ds1's name (2.9yo)

despite it always gracing the list of top 10 boys' names, we rarely come across other alexes

most his age are very definitely alexanders (or xanders) - to the point that lips curl when their names are abbreviated. alex seems a bit out of favour atm

but our is def an alex

in fact, come to think of it i can't think of another one we know (although several of our own age)

1 x Alexander (Alec) - 64 years
1 x 4 yo with Alexander as middle name (ds )
1 x 17mth old baby Alexander

It is a family name on both sides, so we have an Alexander grandson (known as Sandy). To avoid confusion both our families called their Alexander/dra/ina s different short names. e.g. Ina, Sandra, Lexie and Alec, Eck, Sandy, Sanders, Lex, even Al and Ally. My hairdresser who is married to a Greek chap has the Greek spelling but just calls her son Alex.

I would go for it - good strong name, with umpteen variations that the child can choose as they grow up.

Lexie seems a popular name at the mo - from Alexandra.
can't hink of any boys though

There are two 3-yr-old Alex's in dd's pre-school.

DD2 is Alexandra we choose because we thought that is was quite rare for a girl, how wrong we were. We call her Lexie.

I don't think it matters what you call your child by the time they go to school there will always be lots .

Nephew is Alexander, ds2's middle name is Alexander (we used it first )

i know a fair lot. Alexander=25th, Alex = 27th, Alexandra=84th, on 2007 Bounty list.

VS our dd1 is ella (Isabella) and we named dd2 Lexie (alexandra)

other than that only my cousin who is a 35yr old spanish twat (nothing against the spanish, just him) and another friend of ours who is having twins - the boy will be called Alex
