yes..all my family saw my marriage like a nightmare because my dh is brazilian and mixed race wich is completly stupid....so he decided that i should follow my sister's name because she is a model for him...it is a long story but, laugh if you want, they payed my first fiancee, brazillian again, to leave me, wich he did but could not make the same with my husband so...he decided to oppose to everything we did....

I prefer Sarah
and possibly a Sara will have to say when giving name details:
you spell it withouth the H!

I like it, but I like Sarah more.

ladette · 23/02/2008 22:11

Binah, is your father's reaction a cultural thing (apologies if that seems tactless, but might address a couple of the other posts on here too)

BINAH · 23/02/2008 22:11

you may promounce it either way...sara with an s is how my dp calls my dd because is the brazillian way and zara is the way i call her...

My mum used to work with a Sara, and I never met her, but, literally just because of her name, I always thought she sounded like one of those really sorted, classy, together kind of women.

means princess i think. i love sarah, sara, zara

WestCountryLass · 23/02/2008 22:07

How strange your father would do that????

Sara is a good name, a classic, nothing not to like

Charlene1 · 23/02/2008 22:06

I think it's lovely!! Very "classy" sounding!

Tell your family it's nothing to do with them - my mother sneered at dd's middle name (Taylor) but I told her "that's what we've chosen, and we like it, so shut up".

I wanted Sarah or Sahara for dd - dp said no, but that's because he knew someone called Sarah once who he didn't like, so it would remind him of her if we picked it! And he thought she'd be called "Sandy" (as in desert!) by bullies if we called her Sahara...
Honestly, men......

BINAH · 23/02/2008 22:03

They wanted me to call her my sister's name...margarita....but i love sara/zara.....
My father even stopped talking to me for a mounth after I named my baby....

Pronounced like "Zara" but with an "S"? I love it. Can't believe, even if people don't like your DD's name, that they would tell you, so rude and insensitive. They obviously don't have very good taste anyway, Sara is both pretty and strong. Perfect. Allows your DD to be whatever she wants to be. Ignore them. Listen to MN. We're the wise ones.

WendyWeber · 23/02/2008 22:00

Is it pronounced like Sarah or like Zara?

RipMacWinkle · 23/02/2008 21:59

I like it.

glucose · 23/02/2008 21:59

all the Sara's I know are either very clever
or were Sarah and took the H off
