Middle name for Emma…

Birdiboo · 20/06/2023 18:21

I love the name Emma so much and it’s the only name I can imagine calling our baby if it’s a girl. I keep thinking of others and liking them for a while but going back to Emma.

Anyway, our surname is quite boring one syllable along the lines of Smith so think that a more interesting middle name is needed to liven things up a bit!

Would love to hear your opinions on the below -

Emma Eloise
Emma Valentina
Emma Rosalie
Emma Lavender
Emma Winter
Emma Sophia
Emma Isabella
Emma Primrose

I imagine that my partner will veto half of these 😅

Any other suggestions along these lines?

other names I like are -

Eleni
Olive
Lilah
Marielle
Autumn
Daphne

I’d avoid middle names that start with a vowel. I struggle to say them and end up adding a rogue R, eg. EmmaR Isobel.

I like Emma Sophia best from your list, but Valentina has nice connections for you and also works nicely:

I think you want to be careful not to be too flouncy if your surname is also fairly plain.

I'd love Emma Hermione but that might seem like a nod to Harry Potter.

Emma Lucinda perhaps?

I've always liked Emma Kate

MariaVT65 · 20/06/2023 18:56

Emma is a fairly popular name right now. If you also have a very common surname, i’d try to make her middle name more obscure, so avoid something like sophia.

Shutupyoutart · 20/06/2023 18:53

Emma Valentina flows quite nicely op could be nice as you say she's due around valentines aswell. Also really liked someone else's suggestion of Emma victoria. Or how about Emma Octavia, bit more out there but you did say something a bit more unusual!

Birdiboo · 20/06/2023 18:46

@FlounderingFruitcake I did wonder about the Jane suggestion as I had asked for more interesting middle names (apologies to anyone called Jane) thank you 😊 they will be due around Valentine’s Day which happens to also be my birthday so I thought it would be fitting!

@Pamalot thank you, I do really like your suggestion of Anastasia

@Denise82 your middle name happens to be my mums name!

@DuchessOfSausage I’m in Northern Ireland and with our accent/dialect we don’t tend to add “R’s” between a name ending in a vowel and a name beginning with one (hope that makes sense)- so I don’t think that would be so much of an issue here but I appreciate where you are coming from.

@Blueroses99 thank you! Surname is 6 letters - one syllable. Quite flat and boring imo - (won’t tell my partner I think that 😅)
