***URGENT***Name for a feisty /firey girl please.

Please no chav.

No Blaze,Courtney-May, Minky-Rae etc.

My daughter already does not suit her name it is far to gentle for her even dh agrees (I am amazed by this) but I am flummoxed as to what we could call her instead as we had Nell, Annie, Constance and Dolly on our lists and neither of them fit either.

Any suggestions would be very welcomed, I really want to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later I think we have 5 weeks before we can't change it officially.

Great thread!

If you want feisty Shakespearean names try Miranda, Rosalind or Beatrice - I've got all three and they work well

But as your daughter is 11 months - what about Sylvia - also a Shakespearean name - and the third Pankhurst and it sounds a bit similiar to Lily so won't confuse her too much.....

Wow, some super names on here (including dd's, which I last saw on a thread entitled 'Names you'd never give your baby') Some of these have already been mentioned, but I was thinking of feisty girl heroines such as
Nancy (Drew)
Pippi (Longstocking)
Dorothy (Wizard of Oz)-- not sure it's done in the UK so much, but in the US this is often shortened to Darcy, which someone mentioned way down there.

Rock song heroines:
Roxanne (I see Roxie has already gotten a lot of votes)
Cecilia
Layla

The name Candace is (I think) from an Ethiopian queen (and also the name of the Sex in the City author), but would probably get shortened to the rather less commanding Candy. And speaking of queens, if you didn't want to stray too far from Lily, you could go with Lilibet, which I think is what the queen (our one) was called when she was little.

I knew a ninety year old Dulcie, she was very very feisty. I think it's a great name.

she was alexandra and we now call her a derivative - essentially a different name though - it was fine

TMMJ - nah I wouldn't worry about changing her name. We called DD almost exclusively by her ridiculous pet name for the first 12-18 months, and she suffered no confusion And sod what other people think. It's really none of their business.
