Ffion, Zoe, Alexandra or Isabella?

Ffion is currently the frontrunner, especially as I am due to give birth the day after St David's Day. We are Welsh but currently living in Oxfordshire, which is why we'd like a Welsh name.

I'm still being drawn by the other three though. Bloke doesn't like Isabella - our surname starts with a B, and he thinks it sounds a bit clunky.

Any opinions welcomed, please!

I like Alexandra, am also pregnant and we are about 80% decided this LO will be Alex whatever sex.
I do love Isabella but DP's cousin is Isabella.

I only really like alexandra and zoe

I really don't like Ffion at all, but then, I'm not Welsh and am maybe missing some of the cultural connotations of beauty . isabella is the prettiest, but obviously really common these days. Alexandra is nice - Alex is a cool nickname for a girl.

I'm not keen on Ffion.

Think the others are all as lovely as each other.

Good luck!

there are loads of gorgeous welsh girls names. There's a thread somewhere, I'll look.

I like - in order

Ffion (lovely, especially as there is a Welsh connection but may need to spell it in England sometimes)

Alexandra ( really like Lexie as a nn)

Isabella (but maybe not with a B surname)

Zoe (not v. keen on this one)

belgo · 18/02/2008 13:32

As long as you don't mind Alexandra always being shortened to Alex!

I understand that you like Ffion for cultural reasons, but personally I don't like it very much and it doesn't travel well. Fiona is prettier IMO.

Zoë is very pretty (my mother's name) but, like Alexandra and Isabella, is quite common these days.
