I'm stuck for a name for our little girl. I want something pretty but a bit unusual and I think I like the name Romilly but can't decide if it's a bit too uncommon. What do you think? I'm also not sure of a middle name but thinking it needs to be a one-syllable name so that it's not too much of a mouthful?

I like it. Also like Rosemary nickname Romy.

Not really. The -y at the end makes it awkward to say yet if you drop the -y it is basically the same name as a very bad man! Secondly, when said quickly or in some accents it sounds quite ugly.

If you and your partner (if applicable) like it then surely that is all that matters.

Yes, but I'm biased because I know a fab 8-year-old Romilly - she gets called Rom sometimes which I like and suits her Jane, Rae (quite fun) perhaps?

Yes. Very pretty.

It’s a surname in the Churchill family, so people may think you are related

Not spelled the same, but it's a suburb of Stockport so something to bear in mind.

I do.
