Imogen or Maeve - Help!

Hi All,

Would love some help trying to decide between these two girls names (our first daughter is Cora):

Maeve- I know it is getting popular but is it a passing trend name?

Imogen (nn Immie)- We do love this name but is it too bland?!

If I had to choose, the one that sounds simpler, is Imogen.

Thank you so much, really appreciate everyone's thoughts and some good suggestions for nicknames beside Immy (and very good point that we shouldn't be too prescriptive on this anyway)!

I think we will either go Maeve Imogen or Imogen Maeve at this rate, but lovely to see most people like both.

This will probably not be seen but we're having the exact same dilemma with these two names now! Wondering which you chose and how you feel now?

i just think of Dave when Maeve is said. I really don’t like it.

I loved Imogen and wanted it for our daughter but when she was born she didn’t fit the name but I still like it a lot. I’m not a huge fan of Immy though. Having said that, I think Maeve is nice too and sounds better with Cora. Sorry not much help but both lovely, solid name choices in my view!

That’s so funny as this was exactly what happened with us. We had Imogen on our list , it was my favourite but when our girl was born she just wasn’t an Imogen. Weirdly I went off the name after that even though I think its object beautiful….thats hormones for you

Maeve. I’ve never liked Imogen. It’s actually a misspelling of the original name Innogen.

Imogen is a strong name I think not bland at all. Maeve is a bit wishy washy

I like Imogen (and especially Immie) but I absolutely LOVE Maeve. Both gorgeous choices.
