Hi All,

Would love some help trying to decide between these two girls names (our first daughter is Cora):

Maeve- I know it is getting popular but is it a passing trend name?

Imogen (nn Immie)- We do love this name but is it too bland?!

Thanks!

Imogen definitely, such a beautiful name, I'm Irish and Maeve is quite old fashioned here

cptartapp · 22/01/2023 18:49

Lots and lots of Maeves atm, Sounds like it's short for Mavis, Mave. Ugly.
So Imogen.

cleanitup · 22/01/2023 18:48

Maeve

virginqueen · 22/01/2023 18:45

My daughter is Imogen, so I prefer that. She goes by her full name or Imo.

sixtiesbaby88 · 22/01/2023 18:40

Maeve definitely. I know quite a few Imogens but no Maeves

Violinist64 · 22/01/2023 18:40

Imogen.

DaydreamerBetty · 22/01/2023 18:37

Maeve

ShakeYourFeathers · 22/01/2023 18:34

I really like Imogen. It was on the list for what my parents were going to call me.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 22/01/2023 18:34

nickname Mog??

Well that would certainly be...memorable.

ODFOx · 22/01/2023 18:30

They are both gorgeous.
By a nose I'd pick Imogen but nn Mog not Immie.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 22/01/2023 18:27

I find Maeve a bit dull and dreary. But I'm not hugely keen on Imogen either.

I'm no use basically.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 22/01/2023 18:25

And yes, Cora is also a fab name!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 22/01/2023 18:25

I don't like the name Imogen at all but I love the name Maeve. I wouldn't care about its rise in popularity or not. She was a warrior queen and the name means "the intoxicating one” or “she who rules" which I'd love for my DD!

Hopefulbride18 · 22/01/2023 18:20

I love both of those, I don't think you can go wrong but I think if you're worried about popularity Maeve is more of a risk... It's risen sharply recent.

I just wanted to say I LOVE the name Cora too!

Norugratsatall · 22/01/2023 18:16

Imogen definitely

jackstini · 22/01/2023 18:04

Like both, actually Imogen Maeve is lovely!

JoyPeaceHealth · 22/01/2023 17:50

I think Imogen is of irish origin btw to the poster who says ",,imogen unless you're irish".

It came form inghean meaning young girl.

PartyHelp · 22/01/2023 17:49

Maeve, definitely

JoyPeaceHealth · 22/01/2023 17:47

Maeve

Pemba · 22/01/2023 17:46

Imogen is lovely. Maeve I just find frumpy. Sorry.

Viviennemary · 22/01/2023 17:44

Not keen on either name. Thy are ok i suppose.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 22/01/2023 17:43

I like them both. Sorry, that's not much help.

Persipan · 22/01/2023 17:41

Maeve! I find Imogen a bit bland, whereas Maeve kicks ass and takes names. (Not sure how a name would go about that, now I come to think about it... but anyway it's great.)

Monjpetitardin · 22/01/2023 17:37

Imogen for sure.

Velvetbee · 22/01/2023 17:35

Imogen.
