I'm NOT pregnant, so tell me what you think of these before I am hormonal please.

Emmanuel (manu)
Jesse

Barnabas

Girls:

Ana (our surname starts with a vowel though...)
Analia (as above)
Amelie (Milly)
Edie
Jane
Mathilda (Tilly)
Poppy

Any other sugestions along these lines?

what is ds' name? i know sisters called lucy and louise so they both start with lou. doesn't sound weird to me.

go for it nappyadict! Although one of the things I like about it is that nobody else is called it. I think it might be the equivelant of 'Alfie' in a decade though

I am totally sold on it now (the more I see it and think of it, the more I like it), but my ds already has a name beginning with el. Perhaps shall change DS's name.)

Poppy's nice, but way way too over-used. Same with Milly, unfortunately. Definitely not Analia (has the word 'anal' in it, fuel for school jokes).

Emmanuel is lovely.

Alfred (alfred) - shortened to Alfie yes
Barnabas - yes, shortened to barney

Ana (our surname starts with a vowel though...) - only if you are from a country where ana is the usual spelling
Analia (as above) - no
Amelie (Milly) - yes
Edie - yes
Jane - no
Mathilda (Tilly) - yes but with no h
Poppy - no, not keen on flower names

ooh, elwyn is cool! I like alistair, lydia and grace too, although there are lots of Graces about.

i like the names!!!

my ds is called Elwyn

but other names i liked were :-

allistair, george, Rosser and samuel.

and next time if we have a girl i like :-

Alys, Miriam, Lidia and Grace

my fav name was Nia and Rosie. only prob is our surname is Lee so it would have sounded nearly and rosie lee - cuppa tea/gypsy rose lee so unfortunatly they are out of the question!!

My friend's ds is called Jonah, I thought it a bit weird at the time. But have seen a few dotted about since then.I also like Amelie and Alfie No to Elmo, Poppy,and Jane (too plain) When pg with dd, if she was a boy we were going for Jude (dh big Beatles fan) or Flynn. Anything but my boring old Margaret for a name!!

I still love it (elmo), and I think a boy would grow into it and it would come to mean the child, not the muppet! It means 'protector', which is a nice meaning I think.
The main reason I wouldn't use it is that s's name starts with El...but thats always the way for me - lots of the boys names I like are similar, and lots of the girls names I like are similar. Does everybody find that?

I can't believe no one else likes Elmo and positively HATES it! It snuck back into my mind today and it's a grower!!!!!!
still wouldn't have the guts to actually go with it though, I reckon it'd be cute before 5 and after 70!

Jesse is great - love it.
Emmanuel is a beautiful name, but it would get abbreviated and tbh i can't think of any decent abbreviations. Manu? Manny? No!!
Elmo -

Tilly and Milly - totally overdone and terribly twee - she'll grow up and won't thank you for it!!
Love Edith (Edie) - pretty, dignified, unusual.

I love the name Jesse for a boy. I'm glad you put it on your list as I wanted to consider it for DC3 but hubby said No Way! Now I can prove that most people like it .

One thing I might say though is to get a few male opinions on it too and see how they would feel having that name.
