Names to go with Ivy

If we have a daughter, I want to give her the middle name Ivy after my mum

I'd appreciate any ideas for first names

Dh loves Rose/Rosalie but I don't think Rose Ivy flows very well

I'm toying with Hope Ivy or Alessandra Ivy
but not sure if they really work either

Just wanted to say that i really like the name Ivy. I wanted to use that as a first name if we have a girl but dp is not so keen

and you're right, ladette, the first name does matter most - just hard to stop obsessing once you get sucked into this whole names malarkey...

I agree that Ivy seems to work best as a first name - but dh won't let me put it there (damn him!)

i should have said that we live in the Middle East and names here follow a very rigid pattern - all children (whether boy or girl) have their first name then the father's name, then the grandfather's name, then the surname

and dh's name is ..... Albert

sigh - hence my osession over getting a lovely combo for the first two names

there is actualy a law against having two first names due to lots of inheritance probles in the past but if you write them both together in Arabic you can normaly get away with it

I love Ivy Rose nd Ivy Grace - very pretty - but I can't have it this way round.

Surely your DD's first name is the most important thing here? That's what she is going to be called for the rest of her life. You rarely use both names together, and when you do you usually have the surname as well. So try out with your surname too. If it still really doesn't flow too well, perhaps add a second middle name e.g. "Rose Alessandra Ivy"

Hi there Ladies! I am new to this site and that is because i typed in the name of my 18 month old daughter Ivy-Rose and it brought me here! My Grandmother was also Ivy Rose but without the hyphen. We always call her by her full name but find that others don't which can be annoying, so bear that in mind if you considering a double barelled name...well done for choosing Ivy x

Another idea...if you don't want to use Ivy as a first name, how about adding another middlename....we went with teh "traditional" rule of choosing 2 middlenames (names with a family meaning, etc...)

the any first name with ivy in a good combination with 3. name would work...well, pretty much anyway

Rosalin Ivy Louise, for instance....

my nans name is ivy margaret i think it sounds nice the other way around:
margaret ivy (maggie for short) people dont really used the middle names either from my experience
