I always wonder with that sort of family whether they havn't heard of the concept of nick names. For example my mother called me "kettle" and my sister "beetle" as children, but never considered giving them to us as Christian names...

Plum is really nice not so sure about Treacle though. Friend of a friend called Plum she was born in a hippie colony but she really suits it and apparently never had any problems because of it

Plum won't sound ridiculous when the child reaches adulthood - Treacle will.

Its only the narrow minded kids who would take the mick out of someone because they had an unusual name. I wouldn't base any decision on what they might say. I would rather be called treacle than Lucas mucus from the other thread.

No. She will hate you when she is an adult. IMO only pets should be lumbered with icky names like Treacle or Honey.
