I love the sound of it. My only issues is Ms Lestrange Shock would the association still be made? Does it matter?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

And yes Lucius and Narcissa are ok choices?

No they are not. Neither is Bellatrix

Go for one of these instead

We have a cat named Bellatrix after Ms Lestrange. The other Black sister was Andromeda - any good?

Gullible2021 · 22/06/2021 21:03

How can a name that's never been used as a popular name (or even a name at all) make a comeback?!

Atlas and Orion are rightly slated on here too. Bellatrix is a sadist...why would you want to name your kid after a fictional witch based on the most evil of Nazis who everyone else sees as a warped psychopath, even if you can't see it that way?

TheMarzipanDildo · 22/06/2021 20:59

“I dont think I see her as evil as other characters, I dont know. I'd like to think it will start making a comeback of it's own.”

She’s such a psychopath Shock

GreenCrayon · 22/06/2021 20:58

@BiscuitLover09876

They're all real names Wink

I find it funny how people think a name is crazy then suddenly everyone uses it and it's all ok e.g. Atlas and Orion.

I dont think I see her as evil as other characters, I dont know. I'd like to think it will start making a comeback of it's own.

It's not a name though. It's a constellation that JK Rowling used as a name and which people will inevitably link to the books because she's the only person with that as her name.
WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia · 22/06/2021 20:56

I don’t think anyone has heard it anywhere else

Fgs I know mn thinks the sun shines out Rowling’s arse but she did not invent this name.

Not gonna lie I'm craving a twix now.

Janaih · 22/06/2021 20:52

Trixabelle?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/06/2021 20:46

In fairness, Helena Bonham Carter played her so well.

Helena?

covidandborisandworld · 22/06/2021 20:46

Bella or Tricia or Beatrix but
Otherwise no no no

Auxence · 22/06/2021 20:43

It's an amazing name but yes, the HP association is and will remain very strong. It's also a "nowhere to hide" kind of name. I'd use it in the middle if at all, personally.

ODFOx · 22/06/2021 20:42

It is fabulous but it is as Harry Potter as Albus, Narcissa, Severus or Hagrid.
It may be a constellation but before HP it was not a name.

How bold are you, for yourself and your child going forward OP?

Names to consider which a little less 'out there': Beatrix/Beatrice, Isabella, Annabella, Isobel, Annabelle, Fiona, Rochelle, Ciara, Dora, Charlene, Sophia, Serena, Tara.

Good luck and congratulations!

JaninaDuszejko · 22/06/2021 20:37

A literary name is fine, Vanessa, Lorna, Pamela, Fiona, Cora, and Thelma were all invented by writers, never mind the many names associated with Shakespeare. JKR uses real names (Ginny is a nn for Ginevra) but I think the associations are so negative and the character so well known for Bellatrix I'd avoid it. DD1 (13) said 'sounds too try hard and her parents are HP fans'.

hedgehogger1 · 22/06/2021 20:23

Don't name your kid after a fictional psycho murderer.

MegaCityOne · 22/06/2021 20:19

Nope.

finallychangedmyusername · 22/06/2021 20:17

Isobel Beatrix surname, nicknamed Bellatrix?

BlueLobelia · 22/06/2021 20:12

Love the PP suggestions of Arabella Beatrix.

Rosesareyellow · 22/06/2021 20:11

It just makes you think Harry Potter/ a scary although fabulous looking Helena Bonham Carter. Didn’t JK make the name up? A cross between Bella and Beatrix, I don’t think anyone has heard it anywhere else.

mrssunshinexxx · 22/06/2021 20:11

Don't really like it but like Trixie

MargaretFraggle · 22/06/2021 20:09

Ps Wendy was indeed from Peter Pan. My Gran called it a doll's name. (Sorry Wendys).

marmitecravings · 22/06/2021 20:09

its a bit much tbh

MargaretFraggle · 22/06/2021 20:07

Please don't. Narcissa is equally awful.

Beatrix is lovely.

ThePontiacBandit · 22/06/2021 20:06

I was also enamoured with this name while I was pregnant. DH talked me out of it. It’s just such a negative connection. We couldn’t do the other B names suggested, didn’t work with our surname and went with something else that is three syllables.

HollyGarland · 22/06/2021 19:58

Everyone would assume you were the biggest Harry Potter fan ever.

Beatrix? Similar sound, no horrible association!
