Noah and Jonah

Afternoon all,

Recently heard the name Jonah and really like it! My biggest concern is my son is called Noah. Are Noah and Jonah too close for brothers?

The other name I like is Jacob.

Which do you prefer, Noah and Jonah or Noah and Jacob? And why?

Many thanks!

Little Jacob or Jonah is now three years old.

Oops so they are 😂

Liv999 · 04/09/2024 16:26

Absolutely love the name Jonah, but yes I think Noah and Jonah are too matchy so I'd go with Jacob

Jonah. Jacob is one of those names that are done to death. It’s so common and getting very boring.

FayCarew · 04/09/2024 12:53

Use the name you like best. Noah and Jonah are very similar but they are individuals, and won't always be together.

Firsttimebabymummy · 04/09/2024 11:23

Definitely Noah and Jacob

Rustine · 04/09/2024 10:28

I'm a Mum of 2 boys named Noah and Jonah. They are 17 months apart. They are adults now 26 and 24. I'm immensely proud of them. They are very close. They share a phenomenal bond and support each other in all their aspects in life. They are true Gentlemen. Quite rare for their generation xo

VenusClapTrap · 26/04/2021 13:02

It’s all a bit too Sunday school teacher for me. I’d go for something non-biblical.

Crunchymum · 26/04/2021 11:47

Jacob works better. Jonah is just that little bit too similar.

LittleTiger007 · 26/04/2021 10:20

I really like these two names together. I prefer Jonah to Jacob as the meaning of the name is nicer. Jonas is another lovely suggestion.

JemimaJoy · 26/04/2021 00:12

Love Jonah and Jacob! Jonah more as less popular. Very biblical and cool.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 25/04/2021 22:07

Noah and Jonah are too similar. Sorry.

How about Josiah?

happytobemrsg · 25/04/2021 20:27

They are very similar. Noah & Jacob is lovely

partyatthepalace · 25/04/2021 20:13

Too close - but you could use Jonas?

Asiama · 25/04/2021 10:57

I think Noah and Jonah sound great together! I like that they have the same -ah ending. Joshua would also go.

GreenEyedDevil · 25/04/2021 09:44

I like the name Jonah, but I think Jacob goes better with Noah.

MumofPsuedoAdult · 25/04/2021 09:32

Ah OP you definitely have the same taste in names as me...I love all three names - especially Jonah (and can I suggest Gabriel).

As for your combination, given the similar endings I would go for Noah and Jacob.

daisypond · 25/04/2021 09:26

Jacob is better.
Jonah is a nautical biblical figure, like Noah. Jonah also means bad luck, jinx, so it’s unusable to me. It’s a word in the dictionary.

RuthW · 25/04/2021 09:06

Too similar. Jacob is better.

Dontsayfuckorbugger · 25/04/2021 08:47

Jonah. Jacob is too commonly used

TheDaydreamBelievers · 25/04/2021 08:31

I agree - Jacob, Joshua etc are good, Jonah doesn't work.

Sarcobaleno · 25/04/2021 08:27

Agree, I'd raise my eyebrows if I met a Noah and Jonah (I like them both individually). I'd go with Jonas.

Sunshine1235 · 25/04/2021 08:09

How about Jonas? Judah? I think Jonah is a bit too similar sorry

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 25/04/2021 07:52

Jonah is an anagram of Noah with an added J.

Jacob is nice.

MercyBodle · 25/04/2021 07:23

Definitely Noah and Jacob as the better pair.

Jonah is very like Noah in sounds, and as a pp said, both nautical biblical stories with these 2 - a weird theme going on!
