Partner and I both like Fearne/Fern, but I can't think of any nice nicknames for it. Does anyone have suggestions? Not Ferney!
Also, do you think it's too similar to friends 4yo who we would see really very often as they're next door who is Finn?

I love the name Fern (spelt that way). It's short so I don't feel it needs a nn. And no, it's not too similar to Finn.

My surname is a variation of this name. They will be "Ferny" throughout school and beyond and there's nothing you can do about it. Possibly also "disco inferno". If you don't like it you probably want to avoid the name...

Also prefer Meredith to madeline. Merrie or eadie is nice for short.

My sons nickname has nothing to do with his actual name and everything to do with a jumper he had as a baby.

You might mind something else evolves but it's such a short name it doesn't really need a nick name.

Having said that, Fifi is nice, especially if you go for another F name in the middle.

@Fern92 really helpful thanks! If Flinn isn't too close then we should be ok. I hadn't thought of spelling it Fernie. I have a habits of adding 'ie' onto everything 😄

I think it's such a pretty name!

@TotalBitch yes Fi or Fifi is what my partner suggested too. He loves it, but I'm not so sure.

The other name I'm thinking is Maddie / Madeline. I like the nickname, but not the full name!

Fifi? I love the name Fern.

Fern92 · 22/11/2020 11:28

Ps. I do often get Ferne, Fearne, Fearn, Furn (I know Confused) x

Fern92 · 22/11/2020 11:27

Hey @MarvEll my names Fern. When I was younger I got called Ferny/Fernie. My mum nicknamed me Fingers Fern as I always trapped them! Since high school years I was always called Fern. I was the only Fern in my schooI. Also dont think Finn and Fern are too close, if it helps I have a dog called Flinn Smile Fern and Flinn.
Good luck!
