Names to go with the surname

Lewis.

Baby is due soon, don’t know the sex.

Don’t mind alliteration, popularity, long, short, just want a nice name that doesn’t sound made up and is an actual name rather than a surname or object.

Short list so far is Nancy, Erin, Albert and Max. That’s it. Mind has gone blank 😀

Sister has used Balonz so that’s a no go.

@JBMama , why have you posted a question on a 5 year old thread? Start a new thread on what names go with the surname Brown.

JBMama · 25/03/2024 10:23

just found out expecting second child complete surprise! Looking for name help because it took forever the first time around! Surname is Brown and everything I love doesn’t go well with Brown 🤦🏻‍♀️ baby will join big sister Josephine Eliza

BelindasRedPlasticHandcuffs · 29/03/2019 10:12

It's a shame you don't like the Francesca nicknames - I think Francesca Lewis/Chessie Lewis is great!

There’s always someone who suggests it🤣

OP, I'm in the US and always felt my name was old fashioned in the 80s. I like it now though.

Lokidokiartichoki · 29/03/2019 09:32

Haha as much as I love it (shortened to Bobby) it’s my nephews name so it’s out.

Loving the Ashens inspired username - I love him!

Robert Lewis

Its been mentioned but only if you expect him to work for thames valley police

I might avoid robert

Charley50 · 29/03/2019 08:54

I love all your OP names. How about Callum or Conner?

I don't get the Balonz reference? Please enlighten me?!

Lokidokiartichoki · 29/03/2019 08:47

Not keen on valentine, I know it’s a real name but comes under the ‘object’ umbrella for me.

How funny! Do you like your name? I like Laura, and Lauren, went to school with a few of each, all pleasant girls but worry it’s a bit 80s.

mizspear · 29/03/2019 08:09

Lewis is my maiden name, and my first name is Nancy! My mom also loved the name Laura, but it was already used by a cousin.

Hillaria · 28/03/2019 23:08

Bit of a long shot, OP, but if you like Vincent, would Valentine be any good? (Not keen to share, as I have one, but I am going to be generous Grin).

Lokidokiartichoki · 28/03/2019 22:01

hillaria I’ve gone blank! I’ve got a few name books out of the library to have a look through but I just have no clue. Ive been adding and taking off names from my list for months!

mikeuniformmike dont you ever get bored of acting like a twat on the baby names board? Every post with some less than witty comment. So sad.

I have a nephew Robert on my side so not a Lewis, but I do quite like it shortened to Bobby

Hillaria · 28/03/2019 21:38

OP, dear old Balonz 😂

Other than that, Lewis is a good, inoffensive surname. You could use pretty much anything with it. What do you love?

Tavannach · 28/03/2019 21:36

Max
Matthew
Ethan
Edward

Nancy
Katherine
Francesca
Zara

Sister has used Balonz so that’s a no go. Smile

MikeUniformMike · 28/03/2019 21:27

John for a boy,
Leona for a girl.

ColeHawlins · 27/03/2019 22:19

Robert Lewis

Yes, Robbie Grin

I have a soft spot for him.

Lokidokiartichoki · 27/03/2019 22:17

I quite like the anonymity of a more ‘usual’ name than one that can be easily searched.

My maiden name was from my dads country at birth (Middle East) and coupled with my very British first name made me the only person that came up when you googled. Was quite glad to take my husbands name and become one of many!

Tiramisu1 · 27/03/2019 21:48

I'd also avoid names ending in L as Pearl Lewis sound like Purr Lewis Grin

Tiramisu1 · 27/03/2019 21:47

Lewis is quite a popular surname. I know people called Katie Lewis, Nicola Lewis, Alex Lewis etc

Perhaps choose a first name that isn't so popular? So that her name can easily identify him/her.

pilates · 27/03/2019 20:47

Alexander Lewis
Jacob Lewis
Ethan Lewis

Emmeline Lewis
Esme Lewis
Pearl Lewis

Never heard of Balonz before

Lokidokiartichoki · 27/03/2019 20:46

It is quite easy as long as you discount any names ending in an S, but I didn’t realise how many famous people had the surname!
