Final two boys names

Our gorgeous little boy arrived on Wed and is still nameless - really need to make a decision! We're pretty much down to Arlo or Fox - which do you prefer and why?

My concern is that Arlo is about to become mega popular, though on a par with what I'm not sure...

Thanks!

really?

arlo or fox are the two choices?

this is a human who is going to have to walk into rooms pf strangers and introduce himself.

can you imagine introducing yourself to someone' hello, i am fox?'

can you imagine the reaction he will get every single time?

i am really sorry but i wouldn't choose either

neonrainbow · 22/08/2016 12:51

I agree with pp.

If it has to be one or the other then arlo.

Ipanema01 · 22/08/2016 12:52

Thanks, so helpful! Hmm

Arlo does seem to be increasing in popularity if that's a concern for you. If you like Fox then go for it.

MadisonAvenue · 22/08/2016 12:55

Arlo I suppose but Fox? No...just no.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/08/2016 12:59

I hate Arlo.

So Fox for me.

LuckySantangelo1 · 22/08/2016 12:59

Congratulations! I like both names, Arlo is quite popular round where I live. I also like Fox but then I'm an X files fan!

LuckySantangelo1 · 22/08/2016 13:02

I think when people react badly to unusual names they forget that there is a lot of regional variation in names. There's plenty of places in the country where no one would bat an eyelid if your child is called Fox.

blinkowl · 22/08/2016 13:04

Love then both. How about Arlo Fox?

Piniatapearl · 22/08/2016 13:05

I like arlo, heard of quite a few lately. Really dislike fox.

YABVVU · 22/08/2016 13:06

Both choices are terrible. . .Please say there is a third choice?

PotatoBread · 22/08/2016 13:06

Hate Fox. So on that basis, Arlo

Olbersparadox · 22/08/2016 13:07

What does Arlo mean? I have seen it around a few posts - where has it suddenly come from?
I don't like your choices - sorry. Fox is an awful name to bestow upon your own child. Sorry.

What about Oscar?

ApocalypseSlough · 22/08/2016 13:07

Fox is not good.
What about Otto?

pennyunwise · 22/08/2016 13:08

Arlo is popular online but I don't think it's actually used THAT much. I mean, it wasn't even in the top 100 last year. It will probably break in this year but it's not like it's gonna be top 10, or even top 20 or 30.

And I think it's far better than Fox.

EasternDailyStress · 22/08/2016 13:16

Lee Mack has a son called Arlo, which is also the name of his production company. I always think it sounds like Harlow spoken by a Cockney.

I'd think carefully about Fox though.

SirChenjin · 22/08/2016 13:17

Arlo isn't so popular that you need to inflict him with Fox

EasternDailyStress · 22/08/2016 13:17

Also, many congratulations on his arrival

toffeeboffin · 22/08/2016 13:17

Arlo.

MrsJoeyMaynard · 22/08/2016 13:18

I'd be surprised if Arlo's about to become mega popular. I've never come across a single one.

I prefer Arlo to Fox. Fox just makes me think of the animal, and i don't have the most positive associations for that.

toffeeboffin · 22/08/2016 13:18

Mind you, walking into a room and introducing yourself : 'Hello, I am The Fox' would be very impressive Grin

GinIsIn · 22/08/2016 13:19

I would go with Arlo. Fox is cute for a child, but with the exception of Mulder from the X Files, can you think of one person called Fox in a sensible, grown up position of responsibility?

MrsNuckyThompson · 22/08/2016 13:19

Could you use either one as a middle name maybe?

toffeeboffin · 22/08/2016 13:20

I knew a guy called Dune (as in, sand dune) and he really owned the name. Very successful, grad job at Microsoft HQ etc etc)

SpeakNoWords · 22/08/2016 13:22

There's an Arlo at the nursery my DS goes to, and Fox wouldn't be a stand out name there either.
