I wish I were called...

I think that is where my dislike of "my" Sarah stems from NNalreadyinuse - every Sarah I met growing up was a Sarah Louise! Funnily enough my best friend was called Louise (Michelle), it's a name that seems to be wildly out of fashion these days.

I am a Sarah Louise . The other Sarahs I know are Sarah Jaynes. My mum swears blind that she didn't know of any other Sarahs when she chose it and I certainly believe there is something in the hive thinking theory, which would explain why certain names become suddenly very popular, out of nowhere!

I do like Sarah and Louise as stand alone names, but put together they are so boring. On the bright side , I do avoid any preconceived judgements about me based on my name.

I would have liked Sarah Michelle - like the Buffy actress

I had a friend at school named Jemima and I was so envious of her for her pretty name, and for having one less popular than mine (I'm a late-80s Rebecca).

I'd still love to have been called either, I don't think I'd name a baby Jemima. Georgina, though, definitely.

My name has been mentioned on this thread about 10 times as a strong, classic name. I love it but I used to wish that i had a more flowing, romantic name like Cecilia, Anastacia, Arabella, Sasha etc etc

When I was little I wanted to change my name to either Elizabeth Arden or Olivia Newton-John - I thought they sounded so glamorous
Now, I think I would choose either Katherine, Anna, or Isobel (although my real name is ok).

I wish I could've called my DS Django (not after the film, after the jazz player)

I have a very boring and plain 1980s name. There were loads of us in my year at school. I, like noncommital always used to wish my name was Samantha for some reason. I still quite like it.

Well, I like my name, my name is Leontine. But I wouldn't mind being called Annabella/Annabel.

But for my hubby:
I happen to like Yorik, George, Rupert, Bertram and Freddie..

The name of my ex is Rachel, a name I personally don't particularly like (well, I connect it with positive stuff now, but if I didn't know her I'd dislike the name): K/Catherine; Miranda, Louisa. Olympia....

Names I thought were 'cool' growing up were:

I still really like them all now but named my daughter Madeline as I think it's classic and beautiful. Plus our surname is just one syllable which I think sounds best with a three syllable first name.

I quite like my name, it's one that has been mentioned on this thread. Was very popular when I was at school/ still with people in my age range (mid 30s) but I don't mind that too much.

I wouldn't mind being a 3 syllable name - Helena or Francesca maybe.

DP says he wishes he was called Clint! I like his name (Richard) but also like James/Jamie (my big crush as a teen was a Jamie so that's probably why) and David. Or Will.

I really like the name Bethan. Only heard it for the first time a couple of years ago and thought it was great and have since met another Bethan who is brilliant. So the name to me seems interesting, solid, professional and has good connotations.

My own name is a horridly boring top ten forever one.

1horatio Leontine is amazing! I've got serious name envy now... Maybe I can persuade DP to put it on our list for a future not yet conceived DD.

I wanted to be called Megan, Louisa or Imogen growing up - the first two belonged to the coolest girls in school and I just adored the name Imogen. Quite happy with my name now though, very inoffensive (I think ) although I wouldn't mind something slightly more glamorous like Serena.

I've always loved my name and never wanted to be called anything else. I'm a Sophie. It was more unusual in my day though (born in 60s).

I would love to be a Suzannah I tried to influence my dd towards this name if she had a dd however she has 2 boys and didn`t like it anyway.

abit how funny you don't like your name, Jessica is the name I always wish I was called! I'm a Katherine and find this so full, plain and boring, Jessica to me is super feminine, upbeat, individual but not weird.

My name is a deeply unfashionable 1960's/70's one. I would love to be a Phoebe, Melissa or Victoria.

I'm a Jessica, too, and don't like it much either. I'm older than abit, because when I was little it was unusual, and I could never get any stuff with my name on it. Then, just when I reached the age when an exotic and unusual name was appealing, it became incredibly popular. My dad recently said that he'd thought of calling me Tabitha, and I would have preferred that.

As my name and middle name have been mentioned several times on this thread as names people would like ,maybe I'll stick with them

I always fancied a longer name though , Alexandria maybe.

My mum once told me that the two other names in the running for my name were Caroline and Debbie. I actually like Caroline and would have liked that as my name, there was a third name which is the name that was chosen for me. If I could have chosen my name myself I'd quite like it to have been Grace.

dd2 tells me that she'd have liked to have been Charlotte. DD1 I don't think has a preference, she seems to like her name.
