What could be a nn for Idris ?

We are now leaning towards Idris for DC2 if it's a boy, but need ideas for nn .Any thoughts ? Thanks !

I would not shorten Idris at all. It is a lovely name that is easily said/pronounced and just 2 syllables long.

I would not shorten Idris to Iddy - too close to Idiot imo and therefore too prone to potential teasing.

I know that we will want to shorten it - as we have with Daughter's name ( even though that's just 4 letters long) . I can't imagine not using a shortened version a lot of the time . Calling him Idris constantly would seem too formal to me. Maybe I've answered my own question in that we must decide between Idris and Sid or convince DH about Iddy .

I also think it's bizarre to choose a name and then try to think of nicknames. Why not just call them by their name?

If you like Idris, call him Idris. Why would you deliberately choose a nickname then worry that people would use that instead of Idris? Confused

DH would like us to use 'Sid' which I think could work and I like alot, though my only worry would be that he would become 'Sid' all of the time , which would leave Idris a forgotten name just for the Birth Cert/ formalities . DH isn't keen on Iddy ( I quite like it) - maybe we could use Siddy / Sidi . What to do ?!

I don't think Idris really needs a nickname, but maybe Iddy/Idi.
