Expecting Quads!!

Quadsontheway · 17/09/2014 00:05

I'm currently expecting quads at the moment but I'm yet to find out the genders so I am short listing from these names, I'm aware that some of them are quite unusual but I don't want them to be one of 4 kids in the same class with the same name. I'm open to all honest opinions before I choose the final 4:

Girls
Anarchy "Ana" "Annie" Jessica Ellen
Avia
Cara
Emilia Valentina
January "Jani" Nicolette
Josslyn
Joy-Anna
Kendall Kate
Madison "Maddie"
Nova
Rebel
Sophia
Tyler/Tylar
Vienna
Xanthe

Boys
Chai
Daxton
Felix
Gage
Jonah
Jedediah
Jeremiah
Kennedy
Palmer
Phoenix
Wyatt Jett Everett
Xavier
Zac

all the names need to flow with our surname Carter-Hunt

Sorry, quite forgot the matter in hand!

Girls
Anarchy "Ana" "Annie" Jessica Ellen- not keen, sorry
Avia - I like!
Cara - rather dull, sorry
Emilia Valentina - love Valentina but Amelia and its variants are everywhere.
January "Jani" Nicolette - like January, Nicolette is too porn star
Josslyn - to horsey
Joy-Anna - don't like hypens
Kendall Kate - too American surnamey
Madison "Maddie" - not to my taste
Nova - love it
Rebel - stop your nonsense
Sophia - too popular
Tyler/Tylar - nope, too Hayden/Jayden/Kai
Vienna - porn star
Xanthe - lovely

Boys
Chai - only if it's Che
Daxton -like!
Felix -like!
Gage - sounds like a gauge
Jonah -like!
Jedediah - isn't it Jebediah? Like it if so.
Jeremiah - like!
Kennedy - nope, American surnamey
Palmer - as above, makes me think of wanking
Phoenix - a bit Mel B
Wyatt Jett Everett - love Wyatt, hate Jett
Xavier - fab
Zac - too popular

AWombWithoutAFoof · 17/09/2014 11:51

How exciting! When are you due?

Quadsontheway · 17/09/2014 11:18

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions and opinions, it's good to hear honest opinions as I feel like some of my friends are too scared about offending me while I'm super emotional at the moment haha. @manicinsomniac the KKK thing with Kendall... why have I not realised this sooner?! So glad you mentioned that! What are people's thoughts on using Xanthe Xavier and Phoenix all together? I'd obviously have to think of another name with X in if I can find one I like, not sure if I will definitely do this though because then I wont be able to use Maddie and I'm pretty sure I won't be getting pregnant again just because of the risk of having another 4

Chai is pronounced Ch-ay but with the confusion on just this thread alone on how to say it I'm not going to be using it, I only found it a couple of days ago anyway. I'm still in two minds about Anarchy even though everyone is categorically against it, applying for jobs with that is something I didn't consider at all but I just love the way it sounds with Jessica Ellen, but then again what if she did turn out to be really shy. I think I will end up using it but perhaps as just a middle name so it isn't as detrimental as everyone has assumed it will be. The middle name Nicolette is an adaption of my friend of 13 years name Nicole, she chose that so I don't want it to be exactly the same, although I'm in love with the name Madison Nicole. Even if there is only one girl I will be definitely be using Maddie because I think it's so cute and then when she is older she can go back to Madison if she wanted, just a shame it is so common

@BOFster No they were conceived naturally but my husband is a quad himself and two of his sisters have had triplets so we knew to expect more than one! I love Maverick but I have a cousin with that name and I'm not a fan of reusing family names. I'm having second thoughts about Anarchy in case she did turn out to be quite reserved

BlueLaceAgate · 17/09/2014 07:58

Frankly, with quads on the way, you're asking for trouble with Anarchy. There'll be plenty of that anyway Grin.

My favourites from your list:
Xanthe
Cara
Jonah
Phoenix.

Or you could try Calm, Peace, Co-operation and Quiet.

Big congratulations, too, what an adventure Thanks

BrainSurgeon · 17/09/2014 07:49

My faves, for what it's woth:
Cara (means "dear" or "loved")
Xavier
Ava (not Avia - although Avia means bird in latin, it's not a bad name)
Felix (means "happy")
Nova (means "new")
Phoenix

Would you also consider
Alba (means "white")
Alina (means "soother") pronounced Aleena
Anya - a good suggestion from a pp
Carter - a good suggestion from a pp
Indah (for a girl)

Good luck with everything!!!

manicinsomniac · 17/09/2014 07:43

Girls
Anarchy "Ana" "Annie" Jessica Ellen - No! Is this even a name? Ana, Annie, Jessica, Ellen - all good. Anarchy - just mean!
Avia - pretty sounding. Never heard it before
Cara - like it
Emilia Valentina - quite like it
January "Jani" Nicolette - like it. Prefer Nicole or Nicola now that Nicorette is such a well known brand name.
Josslyn - not keen. Jocelyn is better for some reason
Joy-Anna - not keen. Prefer Anna-Joy.
Kendall Kate - Love Kendall. Not sure you can use 2 Ks with a hard C surname - she'll be KKK!
Madison "Maddie" - love it
Nova - like it
Rebel - no, for the same reasons as Anarchy
Sophia - really like it
Tyler/Tylar - ok for a boy, don't like it for a girl. I like Taylor
Vienna - like it
Xanthe - love it. I have a 6 month old Xanthe. Never met another.

Boys
Chai - don't like it. It's a tea. Quite like Kai.
Daxton - not keen
Felix - love it
Gage - never heard of it. Not a pleasant sound
Jonah - like it
Jedediah - don't like it
Jeremiah - it's ok
Kennedy - love it for a girl. Not sure about a boy.
Palmer - never heard of it as a name but it works.
Phoenix - quite like it
Wyatt Jett Everett - not keen
Xavier - love it. But I'd have to choose between Xavier and Xanthe, I wouldn't use both.
Zac - really like it.

My top 8 (for all eventualities of gender!) would be:
Madison, Kendall, Xanthe, Vienna
Felix, Jonah, Xavier, Phoenix

OwlCapone · 17/09/2014 07:31

Why on earth would you consider calling a child Anarchy? Rebel is just as bad. From the boys list, I would consign Daxton, Gage and Chai to the no pile. The others, whilst not to my taste, are far better.

There are plenty of lovely but less common names to choose from and some are on your lists. You are not naming a dog.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 17/09/2014 07:24

YY to all the comments re: Anarchy and Rebel. How the heck does someone put one of those on a job application in the future? Also, although I like Tyler, I thought it was a boy's name? I think Joy-anna would spend her life correcting people that it's not Joanna. All the others are nice, though I probably wouldn't use Nova together with some of the more "usual" names.

Like most of your boys list except Daxton - it sounds made up. I also wouldn't use Jedediah and Jeremiah both together. Do you want Kennedy shortened to Ken? Because it will probably happen, so something to consider.

MsCoconut · 17/09/2014 06:45

Congratulations! My favourites are Vienna and Kennedy. The only
Kennedy I know irl is a boy but it could be used for either girl or boy.

I also like some of the more popular names on your list (Emilia, Sophia, Zac, Jonah)

I'm not sure you can get away with Kendal Kate with your surname. It's too much alliteration up until the end when I want to keep alliterating!

Primaryteach87 · 17/09/2014 01:59

Lots of beautiful names but agree with others Anarchy is not one to start school with! The teacher would be bracing themselves.

Italiangreyhound · 17/09/2014 01:51

5 or 6!!

BOFster · 17/09/2014 01:50

lol at Danger Grin. High voltage!

Italiangreyhound · 17/09/2014 01:50

Congratulations. How wonderful.

I've got 5 or 5 I like from your lists, for each, which is quite amazing as I am quite fussy! So your lists are great. Hope you do not mind me commenting in detail, am avoiding my bed as not tired yet!

Girls

LOVE these:

  1. Cara - fabulous

  2. Josslyn - like it

  3. Joy-Anna - prefer just Joy by itself, it is a beautiful name

  4. Tyler, LOVE IT, don't like the other spelling 'Tylar' too unusual (see below re spelling!)

  5. Kendall - quite like it but by itself not with Kate

  6. Xanthe - I do quite like this one

Sophia - is very pretty but there are a lot of them about

Not at all keen on:
Anarchy - really don't like this one, very negative connotations and "Ana" your child will be constantly needing to say "No, Ana with one 'n'." (IMHO as a mum to a child whose name is always getting questioned on how to spell it and I never guessed it would be!
Avia - I'd prefer Ava but you may find there is more than one of them!
January "Jani" Nicolette - makes me think of Nicorette
Rebel - sorry it makes me think of that old perfume advert

Boys

LOVE these:

  1. Felix - just love it

  2. Jonah - love it even more

  3. Jedediah - it's cool but makes me think of The Tomorrow People (maybe that is just me)

  4. Jeremiah - cool

  5. Zac - nice one

Not at all keen on:
Chai - like the tea? Don't like it or the sound.
Wyatt Jett Everett - personally no

Must add my favourites at moment are Ruby, Cassie, Marigold, Jonah and Joshua.

TheWholeOfTheSpoon · 17/09/2014 01:29

lame!

TheWholeOfTheSpoon · 17/09/2014 01:29

Oh, DEFINITELY add Maverick to the boys' list. I actually like that one.

But don't couple it with a kids called Danger because that's lamed.

squeak2392 · 17/09/2014 01:03

Sorry, I think you should cross Anarchy and Rebel of your list straight away. That's like calling someone Hades or Judas - you might like the names but you're asking for a heck lot of association issues, and if they turn out to be poorly behaved, people will say you brought it on yourself (superstitiousness goes a long way).

Girls:
Instead of Anarchy, how about Annalina, Anya, Anelle, Anais (ah-nay-iss), Anastasia, Annabeth? Jessica Ellen are lovely mns.

Instead of Rebel, how about Arabelle, Arabella?

Avia, Cara, January, Joy-Anna (someone suggested Anna-Joy, which is nice too), Kendall, Nova, Tyla, Vienna and Xanthe are all nice. Jocelyn is nice, but I don't like Josslyn.

Emilia, Madison and Sophia are really nice too, but they are quite popular.
Emilia Valentina

Favourites are January, Joy-Anna and Xanthe.

Boys:
Chai - as in chai tea? Nice, but tea is the first thing I think of.
Daxton - not keen on surname sounding names.
Felix - nice, but popular
Gage - don't like at all. Sounds like 'cage' and 'let's see how nice I gauge this boy to be'.
Jonah - nice. Bit biblical for me personally
Jedediah - as above, but strangely, nicer
Jeremiah - as above, but strangely, even nicer :P
Kennedy - don't like. Surname. Also seen it more often on girls.
Palmer - don't like at all.
Phoenix - don't like
Wyatt Jett Everett - all acceptable.
Xavier - nice
Zac - nice. Prefer Zachariah. Or Zack, if you wanna keep it short.

Favourites are Felix, Jonah, Jedediah, Jeremiah and Zack.

Brightbutchilly · 17/09/2014 00:49

I'm wondering how you could ever discipline a child called 'Anarchy'?

BOFster · 17/09/2014 00:48

Quads? That's amazing! Did you have fertility treatment? You must be thrilled.

I agree that Anarchy isn't a great name, or Rebel, because of the expectations attendant on it (what if the child just wants to keep a low profile? It's quite a name to live up to...), but the others on your list are nice.

You can ignore me though- in which case, please add Maverick to your boys list Grin

NameChange30 · 17/09/2014 00:47

@ Tylastar: Phew! You're right it is much nicer without the r :)

TheWholeOfTheSpoon · 17/09/2014 00:33

Janeoflanternhill the OP is suggesting calling a potential daughter, Anarchy. Somehow, I don't think Linnet will be too out there for her.... Grin

Brightbutchilly · 17/09/2014 00:30

To go with Carter-Hunt?

I'm pretty sure that Anarchy or Rebel would live to regret your choice but any of the others are fine.

catsofa · 17/09/2014 00:29

Are you actually anarchists? Great if you are, but would be odd to use the name if not... and what if baby herself grows up to be a Tory? Although then I suppose her name would be the least of your worries...
