As the title asks really, are there any alternative full names to Christopher?

@theunbreakablecleopatrajones , it is a full name, but not one from the English language.

DD goes to nursery with a Kitto.

Let us pray that’s not a full name

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 25/04/2025 16:36

You could use Kester - it’s a Scottish form of Christopher

Kitcar or Kitcat?

HugoYorway · 23/04/2025 21:27

Kwintin

Waynettaaa · 23/04/2025 15:09

DGS is Kit, in it's own right. Not short for anything. Love his name.

Firebird83 · 05/04/2025 22:21

DD goes to nursery with a Kitto.

Bluelavenders · 27/03/2025 09:12

I don’t like Kit as a name as it reminds me of someone’s ‘kit’

Bluelavenders · 27/03/2025 09:11

The most intuitive shortening for Christian or Christopher is Chris!

I’d say Kitson or Kitto would be the best names to shorten to Kit.

I heard of someone naming a little boy Kitson just because they wanted him to be known as Kit. (Kitson happens to be a surname with some history in the area we live in, landowners and local dignatories etc.) I wouldn't have done that myself but it's a possibility.

Kitchener?

But really I think your best bet is either Christopher or just plain Kit. Anything else will just confuse people.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 26/03/2025 15:36

The one I knew was Kester.

Bluelavenders · 26/03/2025 15:32

None of these are intuitive nicknames, apart from Kit for Kitto.

I guess any name starting with K, C or Q could therefore shorten to Kit?

RebeccaRebekah · 26/03/2025 14:49

I was also going to say Kester. A lovely name.

Bluelavenders · 26/03/2025 09:16

Sorry meant Kitto

Bluelavenders · 26/03/2025 09:16

Kitty

Bluelavenders · 26/03/2025 09:15

Kitten

Kit's been short for Christopher for quite some time - see Kit Marlowe, mates with Shakespere.

Never heard it with any other names.

Kit Carson

musketd · 26/03/2025 01:43

Kit Carson real name was Christopher

LePetitPont · 15/03/2014 08:29

Thinking phonetically, you could go with either Christopher or Christian. Kit is ace, especially in the form of the lovely chap who plays John Snow in Game of Thrones!

JabberJabberJay · 15/03/2014 07:13

Kit used to be a very common nickname for Christopher. Not used so much now but I really like it.

Jaynebxl · 15/03/2014 07:12

Kitchen!

13loki · 15/03/2014 07:01

I taught a Kitto. I think it's Cornish. Everyone calledhim Kit.
