To be secretly happy my least favourite colleague has been sacked?

They were rude, nasty, disrespectful and never really did the work they were meant to do. They’ve been sacked with immediate effect and I’ll never see them again.

AIBU to secretly be glad that the arrogant knob has finally faced some consequences for their actions?!

God, absolutely not! I'm overjoyed that someone was sacked from my old workplace this year, and I left 7 years ago. The man was a sexist pig who disrespected his colleagues and was complained about constantly. But the spineless management did nothing about it for years

Many of us were very happy at work when one particularly person got fired, because of his misogyny and bullying attitude.

Weirdly I kinda miss him now, not because of him but because the shared bitching about him was rather fun. Though I actually got on alright with him, think I was too old for him to try and bully, he went for the younger women.

Congratulations, OP! It gives me hope that, one day, it might happen at my workplace. As it is, we are waiting for the retirement/demise of one (it has been said that we don't ever think that they will do us the pleasure of retiring, so a back-up plan is in place) 😳

She's not going to gloat at them and do a happy dance . But she can feel glad that she no longer has to work with someone she found unpleasant.

Don't be silly. If colleague had behaved better, no doubt OP would have sympathised. No-one has to sympathise with someone who is habitually rude and nasty.

It just feels like finally something had been done. They swaggered round the office like shit didn’t stick because it didn’t. Then all of a sudden today they’re terminated!

Not unreasonable at all to be happy! It really grinds you down working with unpleasant people.

Where I work (CS) no one ever seems to get sacked, unless they commit actual fraud - it is so demoralising knowing you take home the same pay packet as someone who faces no consequences for bullying/ineptitude/laziness etc.

I can only hope for the day it happens to someone where I work. Not that they actually do any work. Aggressive when found out but still nothing done. One day..
