Same here. I worked with some god awful managers and the majority of them were women 😬

Make sure you keep those feelings to yourself- the ‘I will never have to see them again’ can really bite you on the ass. I was in a similar position and a couple of years later, changed jobs. Guess who worked there too!

I've encountered evil nasty bullies of both sexes. Been on the receiving end of their mind games too.

My experience of over 20 years teaching was that the most evil nasty bullies were generally all women....only met one very unpleasant man who i avoided so never got caught up in his games.

So true, when I was bullied at work it dominated my existence and the only time I felt any relief was on Friday at 5pm as I knew I had two whole days away from this hideous person. I did a dance of joy when i got another job and got away from them. They then moved onto a new target, my replacement and this poor woman made an attempt on her life it got so bad. Bully was sacked; I was long gone by this time but I felt so happy that some justice had been done.

It was no surprise when a colleague was EVENTUALLY sacked.

They were absolutely dumbfounded and shocked that it happened.

The kicker was the statements submitted to HR from around 20 colleagues all describing their behaviour over the course of well over a decade.
These were people that they considered to be on friendly terms with.

It took over a year in the HR process to suspend then sack.

They honestly had no idea where it had all come from.

They were an absolute nightmare to work with and a huge HR headache.
They were a relief at no longer having to spend hours with them was huge.

When I worked at a supermarket, we had some useless staff. The ones that moaned about everything, did the minimum amount of work. When they did work, they were useless- putting cat food in the dog food (doesn’t the photo of a cat give the clue away).

When the colleagues got sacked, left, we were glad when they were gone.

One colleague went on sick due to ‘stress’. ‘Stress’ of having to work. She decided to leave after 6 months of being on the sick

Well we were all happy when a manager moved on, she was in the post about 6 months and useless, the students knew she didnt know her subject area..later we found out she had fake documents and diplomas. At the first meeting she held, she announced...." you will all obey me ...if not I will treat you like the blacks back home in S Africa...".....this was in an fe college and true !!..we have heard she got a better job with a govt dept...appalling.

I have worked alongside some horrors iver the years and freely admit to a small smile of satisfaction when one or two of them got their marching orders 🤣🤣

Secretly happy is understandable. Maintain a professional external demeanour because it could torpedo your career to gloat openly.

A group of us went for champagne to celebrate a bullying manager finally being sacked. I’d do it again only next time I’d send him a photo of us all celebrating. He was vile and made people cry at least once per week. No idea how he lasted so long.

If you haven’t experienced it , it’s easy to underestimate quite how bad it is working with someone nasty.
35 + hours a week of that is soul destroying.

I'm just newly in that exact same position- just left a job I loved because of someone I pray will eventually get dealt with who has literally moved on to an ex colleague of mine now. There is too much upward bullying going on- ie says and does all the right things to upper management but spreads the toxicity down.

Not at all, tbh. I've just left a job I loved and had to start again elsewhere in a lesser role because of toxicity from one individual that despite a revolving door of employees seems to be untouchable.

I felt like this when the head of the department was managed out. Such a massive relief and yes... I was happy she was leaving. She moved straight onto another job and I did feel sorry for the people who would work with her and in time would find out her true character.

Your feelings are perfectly normal and understandable. Who wants to work with a horrible person?!
