So we judge people on their looks now?! What if he was a very handsome man, would you believe the "victims" less?

Why does he have to be either universally "cancelled" or beloved and nothing in between?

People can make up their own minds and sometimes feelings can be complex. Trying to avoid a terrible pun, but it's not black and white. 🙈

Why would he be? He was never convicted of anything. All those that have come forwards to claim something happened have been proven liars with financial motives.

Watch the documentry 60mins with his cleaner about the stuff that she had to clean up and how jaded she was about young boys having sleepovers with a grown man. Children’s pants next to a grown mans on the floor next to hot tub bath yes They shared his bath and bed. The private area that was raided was like a teenage bedroom full of old rubbish because the cleaners didn’t get access. Then there’s the baby voice and making yourself seem smaller talk about a wolf in Sheep’s clothing.
He invited terminally ill children to come share his Disney world and bed. He said that himself in person on the record.

Adults parents were duped by his fame and money if he was joe bloggs next door of course they wouldn’t let their children share a bed with that man.
Interesting that his sister Janet didn’t want to be featured in the Biopic and so she doesn’t exist in the family scenes. She does however discuss her brother’s creative input in her work?

There is so much to gain rebranding him to a new generation the young man playing Him is a cousin of the Jackson family I think it’s a win win all that had to do is wait for a younger generation to discover him on their terms.

We do judge people on their appearance, yes. Jimmy Saville looked like a weirdo, so did MJ. He altered his appearance constantly and lied about it. Not an indication of predatory behaviour in itself but the guy clearly wasn’t ok. I wouldn’t believe the victims any less if they didn’t look so odd. But I’d certainly think twice before sending my kids off with them on their own. Appearance is just one factor that can serve as a warning sign. For the pedants - Of course, not every odd looking person is a threat.

Because he was found not guilty. I think this generation love him too.

I went to see the musical MJ on Broadway last year and it was fantastic and continues to sell out every show.

Because Sony paid 750 million for 50% of his back catalogue 10 years ago. And the other 50% bankrolls thé entire Jackson family.

I’m one of the first to say kill all the paedophiles but I genuinely don’t think he was. I think he felt like a child himself and it’s the only time he felt safe. I think he was more innocent and sweetminded than most of us.

He wasn’t a child he was an adult man. If you read the contents itinerary of his bedroom made by the police you would be in no doubt about that.

He had a jumble of adult porn, and artbooks of naked children.

I agree with you OP. I can’t believe there’s been a musical and also the film was on in the cinema near me for months on end. I don’t listen to his music either. Definitely a wrong un and the he’s dead/wasn’t convicted comments make no sense when compared with Savile. I guess the only other difference was that Jackson was talented whereas Savile was not.

I agree btw he did have a troubled childhood and a lot of trauma but the “boy who never grew up” bollocks was just a convenient front for his paedophilia

I think for my generation (60) MJ got a free pass because he had a lot of love from the Jackson 5 era and being the first really important black megastar.

Together with his tragic backstory of his abusive father and his weirdo behaviour plus the grooming of the media to accept his weirdness as Wacko Jacko rather than something more sinister, it took a long time for people to wake up and smell the coffee about him.

There is still a hardcore of people determined to ignore the evidence that he was a predatory paedophile. I find it baffling but there you go.

It is ignorant to make any kind of comparison with Jackson and Saville in terms of whether both were guilty or innocent. Saville was unequivocally guilty - we know this because of lengthy police investigations and hundreds of witness testimonies.

I wonder if part of it is how easy it is to cancel someone - Saville was UK based and all the BBC had to do was delete his programs from streaming and bam - cancelled - no one can watch him even if we wanted to (to be clear, I don't)

MJ was a worldwide superstar, with iconic music, you can't stop the whole world listening to him so he's still available to listen to... and therfore people do.

The FBI knew he was guilty at the time of Gavin’s suit according to one of the agents on the case. But Robson and Safechuck weren’t prepared to testify at that point - they were asked.

If they had, MJ would likely have gone to jail then.

A criminal acquittal isn’t the same thing as establishing that nothing happened. Don’t forget Jordan Chandler's family got more than $20 million for their silence and other victims admitted they lied in court to say he didn’t abuse them.

I’d really recommend reading Diane Dimond’s book. She is an investigative journalist and one of the first reporters to break coverage of the allegations back in the early 90s. She’s an expert on the case.

She said ‘I believe he was one of the most prolific, in-your-face paedophiles the United States has ever known’.

My opinion is that his music should no longer be played anywhere.
