To ask if my boyfriend doing this last night is ‘normal’?

I was having a bath last night and he came in and used the loo (no.2). I shouted and asked what he was playing at and he said he has always done this with partners and vice versa as have plenty of people he knows. He stayed for a couple of minutes until he had finished and left laughing.

For context - together 4 months, he was staying at mine last night.

He has said he won’t do it again but I feel a bit humiliated by it tbh.

Also think how much effort women put into appearing attractive to men. At four months in I bet you’re still hiding the fact you even shit at all from him. The fact he cares so little for your good opinion/attraction is such a red flag. Aren’t you now repelled by him?

It doesn’t need to be a power play like ppl are saying. It’s just a deal breaker for so many reasons no matter what his motivation.

momtoboys · 09/09/2026 20:17

I've been married almost 30 years and neither of us would be that disrespectful. Gigantic red flag.

Laura95167 · 09/09/2026 20:19

Like if I had one loo and he was desperate - awkward but forgivable

Any other scenario - horrible and unnecessary

My ex husband used to do this. It’s a power play in my view, humiliating and degrading. I would never again tolerate such utter disrespect.

This. I’d actually consider if there are any other amber or red flags.

JoyousWriter · 09/09/2026 20:25

This has not happened to me.
Wees, yes.

I have three toilets. I was in the main bathroom, there is also an en-suite and downstairs loo.

Reading the replies has made me realise it was likely deliberate/making a point.

Omg it was bad enough before. Now it's a 100% definite get rid. Grim.

bert3400 · 09/09/2026 20:30

This is so wrong, I had a BF who did this and he was dumped the minute I got out of the bath ....it's disgusting. Me & DH aren't even on the same floor when one of us needs a crap. We have code words that we have used for 28yrs . There are somethings I don't need to know about my DH, noises, smells etc is one of them. Fortunately now we have 5 toilets and 3 floors so many options 😂

Definitely perverted when there were other toilets to use

ILovePie01 · 09/09/2026 20:37

8 years in and never pooped in front of the other. Absolutely not. Sudden IBS flare yes if only one toilet but I’d warn you and give you a chance to get out quick!!

Ivegotonehandinmypocket · 09/09/2026 20:38

Eurgh no fucking way! Wees yes but we have been together 19 years. Poos definitely not and I don’t even fart in front of him and he rarely does in front of me. It’s so rude and disrespectful. No one wants to smell someone else’s shit!

Henhipster · 09/09/2026 20:39

Helenaslide · 08/09/2026 15:56

I usually do but as I was about to get in he suggested bringing me a glass of wine up so I left it unlocked for that reason.

That could suggest he was being manipulative but honestly, he should have at least apologised. I agree with everyone who says end it because it can only get worse.

MyDeftDuck · 09/09/2026 20:44

If he had been genuinely mortified at offending you I might overlook but because he laughed because you were upset at him shitting whilst you were in the bath………..nah! Not acceptable……not forgivable……tell him to fuck off!

Flannelfeet · 09/09/2026 20:47

Urghhhh. 🤮. My husband still doesn't think i fart 15 years together too, it happened once when I had a bug 🤭. Cat gets the blame now if he comes into the room and its a stinker 🤣🤣🤣 he believes it too 😇.

YellowScarfRupert · 09/09/2026 20:49

perhaps this is why they are his ex’s

JayJayj · 09/09/2026 20:54

I’ve been with my husband 22 years. We have not and never would, so that in front of each other. We’ve had a wee. Sometimes you can’t wait and we only have 1 toilet.

The fact there is another toilet he could have used says something to me. I’d be dumping him.

catlover123456789 · 09/09/2026 20:57

Ewwwww. No thank you.

Redragtoabull · 09/09/2026 20:59

Okay...

Number 1) It's a control issue, he's deliberately ruined your space because he was not in it. Notice me he said!! Wave that red flag high and wide is what you should do! Because previous GFs have tolerated this shitty behaviour does not mean you lower your standards (? Questionable as you are on here asking) to his previous GFs standards.

Number 2) You already have 1st hand experience so enough said.

Number 3) Four months in, the mask has slipped, see it for what it is, this filth dropper on your me time is showing you in his actions who he is, believe him!

Number 4) Find the door and run. You owe this cretin sweet FA

Dr13Hadley · 09/09/2026 21:00

I’ve been with my husband for 16 years and we’ve never done that to one another. The kids might have but only as a one off. It’s just grim.

VC10vTristar · 09/09/2026 21:00

At only 4 months in (when he should be trying to impress you) that’s honestly awful. More so that you have other bathrooms.

I wouldn’t ordinarily respond but it could be that 12 months in you are here again writing (like other posters I’ve seen) asking about skid marks in his underpants for you to deal with, skid marks on your bedding, teeth cleaned once a week, showering once a week - and worse.

I would have to terminate him now for that.

ooeygooeychewy · 09/09/2026 21:01

Assuming not an emergency (and clearly not in this case), that's unacceptable. I'd probably be ending things with him after that. Not even joking. If he could seem to get the message that this is not okay and agree it won't happen again, I might give him another chance. Problem is, the kind of boyfriend who thinks this is normal will probably have other compatibility issues popping up down the road.

Let us know how it goes when you kick him to the curb. We have one bathroom and after 4 years my partner would never do this, let alone 4 months 🤢

Greenseacat · 09/09/2026 21:05

Vile.

He did it to humiliate you.

Dump him.

Zucker · 09/09/2026 21:06

3 toilets available and he chooses the one where you are in the bath. He's a pig. He set you up for this by offering to bring you a glass of wine. Absolute tosser.
In the short time together has he hinted that you're a prude or not as open minded as his previous lady loves? This sounded like a lesson he thought you needed to learn.

BlackRowan · 09/09/2026 21:10

We are married and don’t do it in front of each other. Even no 1 - unless desperate measures are required.
i just find it a turn off and think this should be private and so does my husband 🤷‍♀️
just my opinion

ToastSafeFromMothsAndDogs · 09/09/2026 21:22

Oh no, that’s definitely aimed at you and utterly grim.

We’ve been together nearly 30 years and are still pretending we don’t have digestive systems.

You don’t have to go that far, but interrupting someone’s bath to shit in the room is revolting and violating.
