AIBU to be shocked at the violence towards women at the Reform conference?

ILikeDinosaurs · Yesterday 11:03

Another video showing the violence against a woman at the Reform conference. They are actually PULLING A WOMAN DOWN ON THE FLOOR and KICKING HER.

A man in a suit and a man with a lanyard both kicking her. The man with the walking stick in the other videos (identified as Stephen Cooling) looks like he's pulling her down and possibly kicking her too. Women are just watching with no care for the victim.

This is Fascism. Given Nigel's horrifyingly GLEEFUL response to this, this violence will become the norm under Reform.

How can people defend this?

Mods please don't take this down, this mustn't be allowed to be ignored.

Why are you addressing me as though I were somebody else?

I agree with Robert Jenrick's response - "Oh boo hoo". 😂

For too long, leftist agitators have felt entitled to walk over others in society with a total lack of respect.

It doesn't matter what the event is - a protest, a political rally, a meeting, a religious service - whatever it is, these people have felt entitled to invade and disrupt proceedings, showing complete lack of respect to those present, as well as to their rights to assemble and express reasonable opinions etc.

I am pleased to see there is now some push back against these arrogant bullies and I found it deeply satisfying to see them being manhandled out of the Reform conference.

Indeed I think they got off pretty lightly.

You actually think it’s ok for people to assault someone just for protesting with their voice? You do realise it’s a crime to assault?

Sunbringer · Yesterday 14:16

gillyflower2 · Yesterday 14:14

How are 19% of voters saying this is unreasonable? Whatever your political stance, the way that woman was manhandled and attacked was disgusting. Reform are absolute scum who are giving confidence to the most prejudice, disgraceful views in society. I have no idea how they’ll justify this but they’ll try. Because they are vile.

Because Reformers think people who disagree with them deserve to be harmed. They think it’s right to physically attack people.

I’m not convinced the footage isn’t AI generated, potentially using existing footage which has then been doctored. The first clip in particular looks suspect.

I listened to it on the radio as it happened. Farage was revelling in what was happening.

YourWatermelonship · Yesterday 14:21

TemperanceWest · Yesterday 13:46

Someone is busy with the report button on this thread too, so we should all be careful with our words.

That video is disastrous PR for Farage and Reform and they know it. But no amount of dismissal, minimising, DARVO and attempts at censoring conversation is going to stop decent British people from being disgusted at that video and the party leaders' reaction. It's being watched all over the world with shock

Add to that Tommy Robinson's illegal blackshirt parade yesterday disrupting national infrastructure: the extreme right have shown us who they are.

Any moderate potential Reform sympathiser will be in no doubt as to what the party stands for now.

All in all a pretty bad week for Reform and Nige.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · Yesterday 14:26

SeriousTissues · Yesterday 13:19

I voted that you are unreasonable purely because I’m past the point of being shocked by violence against females.

I agree with this, unfortunately.
And being shocked that a radical far right party exhibits and condones acts of violence is like being surprised to discover that The Pope is actually a practising Catholic.

LanaDelBoi · Yesterday 14:27

You are not being unreasonable but at least with Reform, people are able to criticise them. With the other group (extremist religion of peace-ers), you wouldn't be able to criticise them and they are even more regressive with women's rights to the point that assault and domestic violence are a husband's right.

Here is a video of Femen, the feminist organisation storming into a muslim conference on women. See how they are treated.

A fascist wants to control thought - she is a fascist who didn't belong but wanted to cause trouble. She certainly found it. No gaslighting here.

You are trying to talk sense - it won't be supported on this woke thread. People just want to bash Reform and Restore, no particular reason is needed. And virtue-signal as well.

It is not “woke” to believe in freedom of speech or freedom to protest.

They are core British values.

I don't need to justify my intelligence to anybody, especially when they can't even be civil.

Won't justify it or can't justify it?

Auspiciousminds · Yesterday 14:42

LuckyHazelFox · Yesterday 13:36

It's also become associated with milkshake throwing, party conference gatecrashers. Talking of suspicious minds, I often wonder if Steve Bray is posting on MN. It does work both ways.

You think I'm Steve Bray? Righto.

Yes anyone justifying this behavior is simply an amoral human being.

Ah, the old "fake news" chestnut.

BlackRowan · Yesterday 14:50

Not shocked. These are vile people who just got even more vile with age and found an outlet for their suppressed anger. It’s like a bunch of male and female Karens in the worst form.

You show your true colours using 'woke' as a pejorative. It's like getting angry at people for being kind, fair, and having morals, because that's pretty much what it means - and if that's something you object to, it shows what type of person you actually are. At least you've found your tribe with reform and restore!

Soitshoteh · Yesterday 15:02

Auspiciousminds · Yesterday 14:39

I fear won’t .

@LuckyHazelFox google scholar is a very useful tool to find sources to help you back your statement, and asking you to intellectually back what you’re saying isn’t insulting your intelligence specifically or uncivil, it’s asking you to back up what you’ve asserted

CurlewKate · Yesterday 15:02

BlueSherbet · Yesterday 12:05

Bear in mind we live in an era where nothing is safe - MPs have been murdered at their surgeries or in their own home. There are random attacks on innocent people in the street. Even an ariana grande concert was blown up.

All these things results from two sources - islamism and leftist violence.

And so if an aggressive malcontent suddenly reveals themselves at a crowded gathering, its only right to ensure they are quickly and effectively subdued in the interests of public safety.

You cant take any chances with safety in this day and age.

Was Jo Cox killed by an Islamist or a lefty? Do we know the motive behind Ann Widdecome’s murder?

Yes, I am full of rage at what I've seen, which is a normal response as I am a normal, ordinary human reacting in a appropriate way to such an ugly scene. I can't say the same for some on this thread. Anyone condoning violence is lacking, to put it mildly.

What are your views in the assaults by Reform delegates?

"No particular reason" = thread is literally about a group of Reform supporters assaulting a heckler while she was being moved out by security, recorded on video, from several angles, while the party leader laughed at her

TemperanceWest · Yesterday 15:13

UnaGatita · Yesterday 14:17

Jenrick confirmed the footage was genuine by his dismissal of the assaults and his implication that the women had it coming . If the footage was fake he would have said so.
