AIBU to be shocked at the violence towards women at the Reform conference?

ILikeDinosaurs · Yesterday 11:03

Another video showing the violence against a woman at the Reform conference. They are actually PULLING A WOMAN DOWN ON THE FLOOR and KICKING HER.

A man in a suit and a man with a lanyard both kicking her. The man with the walking stick in the other videos (identified as Stephen Cooling) looks like he's pulling her down and possibly kicking her too. Women are just watching with no care for the victim.

This is Fascism. Given Nigel's horrifyingly GLEEFUL response to this, this violence will become the norm under Reform.

How can people defend this?

Mods please don't take this down, this mustn't be allowed to be ignored.

I voted that you are unreasonable purely because I’m past the point of being shocked by violence against females.

Are you shocked that women on this thread are condoning it? Because I am.

ilovesooty · Yesterday 13:21

emuloc · Yesterday 13:17

The condoning of these Women being viciously attacked, from some posters, is alarming, imo.

Unfortunately unsurprising though.

kirinm · Yesterday 13:21

LuckyHazelFox · Yesterday 11:37

I have listened to the woman. I don't need anything else to form my opinion.

That’s odd because you couldn’t form an opinion on Reforms illegal funding on another thread until an investigation had been carried out. And you claim you’re a Tory? Sure.

LuckyHazelFox · Yesterday 13:22

TemperanceWest · Yesterday 13:20

I wonder if some of them are men?

You can wonder all you like. I suppose the alternative, being that people just have different opinions to you is unthinkable.

I'm not shocked. I expected it. Disgusted, yes. Shocked, no.

Butchyrestingface · Yesterday 13:22

Why was yesterday’s thread taken down, @ILikeDinosaurs ? Were you given a reason beyond the generic message that appeared when I tried to click ok thread?

Yes, I'm a Tory, what of it?

Cheguevarahamster · Yesterday 13:23

I voted unreasonable by mistake.

The violence towards these women was appalling and Jenrick (being interviewed this morning did not condone it). He (and others on this thread) are basically saying she deserved what she got as she was protesting.

So there you have it, dont talk out of turn ladies, or you deserve a slap.

Fucking diabolical.

The fascist woman who infiltrated the conference needs a hobby, as do so many others.

Another "it's about protecting our women and girls" poster..

I wonder if some of them are men?

I don't, tbh.

Pollyanna87 · Yesterday 13:24

I tried posting threads about the violence towards a baby dolphin in Ceuta but they were taken down.

You will need to explain that one.

Is that a woman holding the woman in the video though? I know it doesn’t matter- all scumbags, but not against women if it’s women being thugs too?

She was pulled down by the hair by a woman and a man was hitting her with a walking stick in the clip I saw.

It is indeed unthinkable to me that people are openly condoning acts of violence towards these two women. I can't imagine what it must be like to be that sort of person.

kirinm · Yesterday 13:27

I'm struggling to understand how 20% of responses here are that you are being unreasonable.

Reform need high security due to actual murder of Ann Widdecombe and the fact that some think that was justified. But security should do that job, not the mob.

You’ve for no idea what the motive for Anne Widdecombe’s murder is and half the time Farage lies about supposed warnings in respect of his safety.

im shocked at how disgusting some Mumsnet posters are!

Where have I said I condone it? I said I have zero sympathy for fascists.

kirinm · Yesterday 13:28

Marellain · Yesterday 12:25

Well, you can continue Pearl clutching at how awful those Reform People are, or address the elephant in the room that Reform voters have been called thick as pigshit gammon flag shaggers… and Farage has received death threats. They have been sneered at and derided constantly. Tipping point just noticed… oops they fought back.

They entirely deserve that description as their supporters on this thread demonstrate.

Oh, so you are against Farage and co. after all. Great!

PeachOctopus · Yesterday 11:30

It looks bad but we need a bit more context as to what was going on. Was the woman trying to run on to the stage? I imagine security is ramped up after the Anne Widdicombe murder.

..the woman hair was being pull by an elderly woman and Reform staff appears to be grabbing her by the head, while security is restraining her. .what further context do you need?!

I'm past being shocked. There are women on here openly expressing views like that on a daily basis.

LuckyHazelFox · Yesterday 13:30

Not at all. Fascism changed course way back.

After reading posts from Nige supporters on this thread I can't see how they can be described as anything other than old school thicko thugs.

Laws exist, not only for "lefties" but also for you, my dears.

Edited

Yes, the chilling comment about looking for trouble and finding it could be applied to any number of examples of out and out brutality. There’s a horrifying story in the guardian about two sisters being arrested for participating in protests in Iran. You could as easily apply this logic to that situation.

I’m sure I’ll be smartly told that I’m being silly in drawing a comparison, but you do wonder where the line is drawn for these people. There is a real glee in seeing those with opposing political views getting their comeuppance that is disturbing.

ilovesooty · Yesterday 13:32

Anyone supporting members of the public assaulting this woman and finding Farage mocking it from the stage acceptable or even amusing is deeply unpleasant in my opinion.

Auspiciousminds · Yesterday 13:33

Marycontrarygarden · Yesterday 13:20

Are you shocked that women on this thread are condoning it? Because I am.

We ought to be shocked but just look at how the women in that video clip were behaving. Those that weren't taking part were standing there laughing at the woman being assaulted. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if some of them are posting on this thread right now.
