AIBU to wonder how much others spend on coffee and eating out?

I used to buy my lunch every day, now i bring my own mostly. Probably a mcdonald’s every other week for us and used to eat out more but its become expensive and poor quality I don’t bother. Used to do chinese takeaway but stopped as it became less good. When i visit family 1-2 times a month we eat out then, but they often pay. If DH goes he will pay normally at around £70 for our lunches

It varies a lot. Some months it can be little and other months it can be a lot more - don’t normally get coffees out during the work week but will buy my lunch (often from the the canteen but sometimes external).

Then meals out probably go to a restaurant on an evening as a family once a month and then one lunchtime restaurant but probably get another lunch in the month at somewhere like soft play or the swimming pool or at a zoo.

but this then increases if we are on holiday (unless all inclusive) or have visitors or visiting someone else or taking some time off work in school holidays in which case it will be a lot more.

Coffee - nothing whatsoever. However, we did go for a hot chocolate this week for the first time in over a year.

Up to £50 per month on takeaways. We limit ourselves to one per month, if that. This is because we’re saving up for a home reno job.

I'm not in the habit of buying coffees unless I am out for the day.

We are on holiday in the UK and have been eating out every day so our total spend for this week will be around £500 - 600 for eating out.

@AdjectiveColourNoun I have a disabled child who will need support long after we are gone. I'm setting her up, so I don't feel like I'm missing out. Knowing she'll receive a good standard of care and support is worth every coffee we never had.

I spend a fortune on coffee. Best guess £60 a month. I daren’t actually add it all up though.

Coffee 10-15. Eat out only about once a month, it’s too expensive. £40 pm

About £100 a month between two of us - it probably averages out at 2 meals (either takeaway or in a pub/cafe) plus a handful of coffees and cakes.

I love a nice coffee but I have stepped away from buying high street coffee as near me its around £4+ a cup which is a bit of a piss take.

Eating out has also become ludicrously expensive in recent years with often an equal decline in quality. That spur of the moment treat of a starter, pizza and bottle wine for two down the local Italian used to be about £60 not so long ago, nearly double that now.

Never buy takeaway coffees but go to a local coffee morning roughly twice a month so £5 a go.
We go for lunch once a month but it's to a garden centre or golf club so arounx £17 each.

I think we probably spend £200 a month as a family of four. We don't eat out that regularly but like the occasional takeaway/ meal out / treat, and it soon adds up.

Virtually nothing , I've never bought into the takeaway coffee culture and prefer to cook at home. We used to have an occasional fish supper, but our local chippy closed down.

Personally, about £20 per week (coffees, meal deals for lunch)
family outings, takeout etc is about £100 per month (me, DH and adult DD).
DH and DD don’t like coffee and usually make themselves lunch at home, so they are cheaper than me. We don’t often have takeaways and we eat out sporadically.

£0 on coffee I will bring my own drink from home have a lovely flask for hot chocolate.
Food really varies over the 6 weeks with trips out maybe £100-150
Normal months vary from £0 - £40 maybe. That would most likely be fish and chips or an emergency mcdonalds when we've gone out/stuck in traffic and kids are starving.

It's the easiest place to save when you're not in the routine of buying food or coffee out because it's not something you miss.

So many restaurants I find aren't really worth the cost I'd rather do a nice meal at home.

So? Some people don't. You need people to spend money to keep your economy going.

Sharing cake, in the unlikely event that i could get anything decent, is something I could not do

Not much on coffee out, we try to take ours with us if we can. But we eat out pretty much every week at least once. So around £50-£100 per week

I don't drink coffee.

DH has one coffee out a week. He spends a lot on good quality coffee which he makes at home instead but I'm cool with that as it still saves a fortune on getting take out coffee.

£200-£300 a month on eating out/takeaways as a family of 3, spent £4 on a rubbish coffee at a music festival this weekend which is the first coffee I’ve bought this year!
It’s either made at home or made in the office where we have a lovely bean to cup machine, I only drink black coffee and hate all these artificially sweet, milky concoctions that coffee shops sell so going out for coffee is wasted on me

Too much. But it sounds like I'm normal from this thread! I stopped when prices went up, but now I'm like "oh well".

I've been eating out every day with kids during the holidays... it's a way to get us to go for a walk while we're mostly stuck at home (I'm WFH) - still cheaper than childcare!

We eat out normally once a week, so around £400 per month. We don't really do take aways or coffee out, if it happrns it is minimal.

We have stopped doing take aways as they are so expensive now and where we live the quality has gone downhill.

coffee, I usually meet a friend once a week and we will have a couple of coffees, so I guess £12 a week.
Eating out, usually birthdays and celebrations, so say six to eight times a year. I guess a hundred quid a pop.

Just me and I probably average £50 a week on eating out.

Around £600 per month average , though that will include eating out on holidays. Take out the holidays and it’s around £250 per month.
