AIBU to use the toilet while my husband is showering?

I’ve done it and I’d do it again. I’ve got bowel disease and when I need to go I need to go . So id be going to the toleit whether my partners in there or not. Luckily he’s understanding.

In a one-bathroom/toilet house, needs must.

I would be more concerned if husband needed the loo whilst I was in the bath or shower.

I'd wait, I don't want to do anything toilet related in front of anyone and I wouldn't want them to do it in front of me.

Nor do we , we have three toilets and it still wouldn’t bother me if he came in whilst I’m in the bath / shower or vice versa . Presumably this is a person you are intimate with .

Unless your husband takes 30+ mins in the shower just wait

Me and DH always wee in front of each other! Lol. He wouldn't bat an eye at having a number 2 but I definitely wouldn't!

Not for number 2. The smell and noise is antisocial. Possibly for wee if he doesn't object and you can't hold it.

But generally I don't think it's right to assume you can use the bathroom while someone else is. But if that's what you've done throughout your relationship and are comfortable then that's cool. But many wouldn't want another person present.

If you have a condition that means you need to go urgently then maybe it would be reasonable, otherwise unreasonable unless he has been in there for ages already but it is pretty grim.

I think under exceptional circumstances you should avoid it. It would annoy me if my DH was constantly pissing while I was trying to have a bath or shower.

À wee would be OK, but not a poo

I went to a pub next door a couple of times when I got desperate. My husband takes ages in the bathroom but always locks the door.

I think it depends if it's a number one or number two. A quick wee, I could probably cope with although it wouldn't be ideal but anyone doing a stinky poo in front of their partner - just no! To be fair, if he is just in the showers he is only 5 mins anyway so I suppose the only occasion when I couldn't wait was if I suddenly was taken very unwell in which case I would yell, "Get out! It's an emergency!" Otherwise, I would just wait a few minutes.

Now DD and her epic baths on the other hand...this is the reason I would never have a one loo house ever again! They can go on for hours.

I wouldn’t go from not needing to desperate so quickly that I wouldn’t have either gone before he showers or be able to wait until he’s finished. Been together 20 years and no need to ever use the toilet in front of each other. I grew up in a house with 1 bathroom and no one ever had this issue.

If I was desperate I'd tell them and ask they get out the shower.
I know some couples are much more comfortable about that sort of thing but I just couldn't do it.

We don't care about this in our relationship and wouldn't feel the need for the person in the shower to turn their back or get out. But everyone is different.

A quick wee if you really need to go is fine, in my opinion. It’s easy just to turn your back.

If I was very very very desperate but id probably tell him I was desperate and he get out of the shower and leave me a a moment
