I thought we agreed BBQs were a bad idea.

DD4 is going through a bit of a deep sleeping wetting the bed phase, we were busy today so I put 2 sets of her sheets on a long eco wash and stuck them on the line when we got back.

Half an hour later the whole garden is white, crazy amounts of smoke from next door and the worst smell of ligher fluid I've ever encountered.

I'm not sure how I'm going to get the waterproof sheets dry and I'm worried the whole street is about to go up in flames!

The offical.gudidance is not to put anyone at risk of fires.

I live in an area that experiences wild fires every year and fire bans and restrictions are normal for this time of year. I'm pretty.sure backyard BBQ's don't generally start wild fires

Op I really feel for you .
People are just so intrinsically selfish it's untrue.

All they have to do is wait a little for some rain and then BBQ to their heats content .

We debated this yesterday evening. Dh is South African, we bbq all year round, including Christmas Day! We were meant to BBQ yesterday but he looked it up and the Government advice is not to light any fires in the garden and he thinks that does include his Weber kettle bbq. I’ve no idea but we decided the neighbours would probably get all anxious so best not to do it anyway.
Im sorry about your washing though, that’s annoying! Dh uses something called “heat beads” which are virtually smoke free.

5 o’clock on a mild Sunday in August is a perfectly normal time to BBQ.

No one agreed BBQs were bad or banned. You’re being weird.

The alert (if that's what you're talking about) mentioned disposable BBQs.

We must live in the same area as neighbours here are just starting to fire up their BBQ's.

In answer to your question though I very much doubt 'Joe Public would be in agreement not to light their BBQ's, most will just do as they please, because you know its their right to use one if they so wish.
