To ask if you think the prime minister has a democratic duty to house asylum seekers in middle class areas

Would you seriously want 1500 MEN dropped into your village of 800 residents who have paid hard earned money to live there?
All those who want more illegal men in the country should be forced to house them, at their own expense

That would ne understandable (they would bring their prejudices with them) but I think the majority of the reported attacks were by pro-Palestinian crowd emboldened by the recent acceptance of a very negative view of Israel as a state and Jewish culture in general.

On the other thread someone who claimed to be in the relevant circles said that the real reason is that a lack of options in cheaper areas mean more expensive housing is going to be needed. This is being suggested as fair to stave off complaints at the expense.

Other suggestions where that the motivation is to place future Labour voters in Tory areas or to target areas with “too many white people”.

so I live in one of the villages posed to have a 1500 open door asylum camp in the centre of it. The village has 700 people. residents/asylum seekers will be ratio 2:1. Will be 5:1 ration of men to women. We are 10 miles from the nearest town and there is nothing here except a school and playpark. Do I think this is us 'taking our fair share'. No, I think it is using one community as collateral damage for a national policy. The base is in the heart of the village. The park and family houses go right up to the base. There's no due process as the govenrment have changed the planning laws so they apply to themselves for planning rather than the local authority. I do live in a nice bit of Yorkshire, but the irony is this village is the affordable one as it has the ex MOD houses. It's totally heartbreaking how our small community will be totally matierially changed, but it is being branded as taking our fair share when it is anything but. For those of you not seeing a problem imagine your community being doubled in size with single men with literally nothing to do and nowhere to go. It's not even like the men will be settling here and part of the community, they will be here for 80 days so over a year there will be 1000s and 1000s of different men passing through. Totally awful. The worst thing is it will cost more than hotels as when they are telling you the figures they don't include the extortionate set up fees.

We have to accept that migration is going to increase and it will get to a point where we cant stop it even if we tried. What we need is a robust system aimed at processing migrants, getting them to work as soon as possible and contribute to economy, while deporting the ones that have criminal record etc. Not allowing any in between crap with people falling through the net and joining criminal gangs. We had Windrush and those people were massively positive for the country. Why not new incomes? But it needs to be tightly controlled. And deffo no spontaneous refugee camps in parks.

So it sounds like they are families, and probably arrived via an official resettlement scheme.

That’s quite different to the young men arriving on boats.

No, I am talking about asylum seekers, small boat people - not refugees who have the right to work, or Ukrainians on the resettlement scheme. Although we have some of those as well.

Nothing of note has happened since the first wave of Syrians arrived over 7 years ago. 🤣 The local population knows them by sight if not by name, we exchange smiles at the school gate and the supermarket. It’s fine, but sorry to burst the bubble on your racist assumptions.

They already live in middle class areas. They integrate much easier when the local population isn’t hostile to them.

But housing is expensive in nice areas. Do you want even more of your taxes spent on them to house them in said nice areas? Thought not.

Bicester and Woodstock constituency (Piddington) is Lib/Dem but a big swing from Cons.
Thirsk and Mold constituency (Linton on Ouse) was a conservative hold.

Litter and flytipping are the norm in a part of Sheffield. Nothing to do with the so called ‘asylum seekers’ but around 7000 Slovaks who moved to the area thanks to Blair opening our borders to A8 nationals after they joined the EU, long before other Western countries.

Street fights are not uncommon, last week was the most recent resulting in arrests and temporary Stop and Search powers. Integration? They can’t even cohabit peacefully with others from their country.
