NDN using our allocated parking space, not their own!

Our neighbours have started using our allocated parking space instead of their own allocated parking space.

We've spoken to them but they have continued. The view of their space is not a clear line of vision.

What to do next???

Borrow a second car. Park it in your space. Compete solidly for theirs for a couple of weeks. Suggest to them that if you could each stick to using your own space then the second car would disappear.

Would it matter if your diagram was 'outing'? There are far more potentially outing issues on MN than some cheeky parking.
Incidentally, unless I've missed it, why haven't you just asked them? Also, surely they don't leave their car there permanently, can't you just move your car when they're out?
This is turning into another of those legendary MN threads along with Lemon Drizzle Cake! #CarSpaceGate?

What is it about this very simple and easy to understand scenario that you are incapable of grasping without one?

It's an allocated parking space and the person who is repeatedly using it is not the resident it's allocated to. Where the space lies on a diagram in relation to other spaces is neither here nor there.

Apparently there are 8 million unique monthly mumsnet users - equivalent to more than 10% of the UK population so not that slim. I’ve definitely recognised someone I know irl from what they’ve posted here.

The neighbours apparently prefer OP's space. Op says My space is superior due to the clear line of vision.

Why should she give up her space to them and let them win?
And there could be a problem if OP later wants to sell up and there's a dispute over the parking space.

When you say "allocated" parking space ,what do you mean exactly ,is it something formal in writing ?
When you spoke to your NDN about them using you allocated space what was there response?

I think you should send them an invoice for parking charges ... it's a stark reminder it is your space that you own. You can pursue this through small claims if you want to ... Other option is a sign - 'unauthorised parking - vehicles will be towed' or clamped ... I think you can get companies to come round and do this. It'll cost you but the entertainment value would be immense.

I had overlooked their other conduct but, yes, they seem to do what suits them in other regards too.

Put a bin in your parking space that's what an old neighbour of ours used to do. They will have no choice but to park in the correct space. If it's a social housing property you can make a complaint to their housing association.

How can a diagram be outing if you draw it yourself? Leave the "outing" bits out or change slightly

So have they just said an outright no, when you asked them to stop doing it. Can you go and knock on the door every time they park there and ask them to move? Or can you block them in?

The reason I would warn then before installing a bollard is because a bollard is a pain in the arse to use and I would hope the warning would be enough.

Despite your indifference to the rules re. diagram, I cast my vote of bollard. Painful for you, but they won't be able to use your space
