Page 4 | To think late 40’s is an odd age?

I don’t know, I just feel weird. Starting to feel older, which is depressing, but also i’m the same person inside, but not. How can I be that same girl that danced until 6 am, now people barely notice me. Not making much sense, but does/did anyone feel the same? Cannot believe I’m nearly 50, didn’t feel this about 40, still felt young and had a baby!

Same here, late 40’s. I drove through my old university town a few months back and the strong feeling of ambition and independence and possibility was palpable as the memories of the girl I used to be when I was there.
once home I looked through an old photo album. I feel like it was a completly different person in another life!

The nostalgia is a huge part for me too. Time really does go by so fast.

I can identify, I'm 48 and recently started on HRT. I find myself often thinking about my childhood days and really missing the people who aren't here anymore. Also coming to terms with not having had children and how to envisage myself and my life going forwards.

I find it a really odd age as well. Perimenopause has hit me emotionally more than I expected it to. I have had a lot of nostalgia for my teen years, even though I’d never want to relive them! But nostalgia has been a big part of peri for me. In my mind I am younger than my actual age. When I dream, I am about 30. I never dream about being my actual age. It’s all very weird and unexpected.

I found my 40s difficult, I was very tired, coping with full time work, my son’s behaviour (due to special needs), and clearly perimenopausal but not realising.

Im early 50s now and absolutely loving being this age! Im doing strength training, taking. HRT and just feeling happier in my skin.

If you can, please take HRT.

My dc are growing up and life will be very very different in 5 years time… which I’m mostly ignoring and going day by day. The next phase with adult dc is a bit daunting when they spread their wings and I watch on nervously, feeling a little more lonely.

I have dh and friends but it’s an odd stage.

Yes, that’s probably an accurate description, the oldest of the young people
