Is it too early to pack for my holiday?

It's just a holiday. You pack early. You sort things out early.

If you don't need the things between now and holiday no harm in putting them in a suitcase. Just keep a list of what you have packed and what still needs packing.

God you sound like you need a holiday BAD! You don't need our permission to pack now, in fact it's a great idea if you have free time to do it. I often throw things in my case as I go along and as I think of things....

I'd say keeping a list of what you have already packed might be a good idea so you don't double up!

Surely, the sensible option would be to write a list, get the things you don't have that you need then spend 20 minutes packing nearer to the time. If everything is bought/clean/ironed if needed, it's just a quick assembly job.

Yes it’s absurdly early. I have never been able to understand why people overthink this so much and pack for a holiday a week or more before they leave. I often get asked by people at work if I have packed for a holiday two weeks before I leave.

You don’t need a full weekend to pack a suitcase. If you have a decent inventory and list ready and have done your washing it can be done in an hour the day before with a final top up the morning you go.

No need to turn everything into such a performance.

But doesn't take a weekend to pack does it? Id make a list of what you need as and pack cpl days before. Just check off your list.

Yes pack early. Keep a list of things that you need to add and don’t add anything that you might need before the trip otherwise they’ll be opened again.

We’re going away on Monday and have been packed for the last 10 days. It’s bliss. This weekend I am pottering and cleaning rather than stressing so hopefully we will be able to come back to a lovely clean house. Even did toiletries etc, charging wires, power banks etc. DCs hand luggage is packed and ready to go. My husband is a pack the morning of type person and I hate it! He’s away with work this year so we’re relaxing 😆

I dont have enough clothes to do this.

But im a pack the day before kinda gal.
And used to seriously upset my neighbour who was a pack a couple of weeks before person!

Do whatever you want - just don't run out of knickers before you go!!

I’d love to be this organised! I left it till the morning of departure (travelling by car) had got 5 mins from home and realised I’d forgotten my bikini so had to turn back! Set off again and realised I’d forgotten my hat! Couldn’t go back again as I’d just managed to get in and out without the cat getting out! Thankfully we were popping in to see my parents so grabbed a hat from there!
Last time we went away for a wedding and I forgot my bra! Had to pop into bravissimo on the way and get another!

I’m a ‘day before I go’ packer. It takes, what? An hour at most. And I take loads.

My last holiday was in May and my next one is September. I didn’t fully unpack and now I’m putting clothes next to the suitcase ready to go in as I won’t wear them in the meantime. I have a spare room so can leave it all out.

But don't you have clean clothes the rest of the time?

Pack when you want to! I usually pack early, my DP and DS both pack literally the same morning. Each to their own - as long as they don’t moan (too much) about forgotten stuff or things that are in the laundry basket :)

You're seriously overthinking, you're turning it into a bigger task than it is.

Write a list.
Put what you won't need before the holiday in the case.
Put the things you will need before the holiday in the case nearer the time.

Pack whenever it makes you comfortable to do so, but I agree with making a list so that you don't forget what you've already packed.

I don't have separate holiday clothes, so, especially with the weather we are currently having, many of my everyday clothes I would also be taking on holiday. So I'm definitely someone who washes everything a couple of days before then packs in an hour the night before. But I make a list a few days before so that I don't forget anything.

Packing three weeks before just wouldn't be possible (and would also drive me slightly crazy as I'd be constantly checking what I'd put in the case!). But it's fine if it's practical for you do it, and you find it less stressful.

Nah just do it. Pack the things you won't need for the hext 3 weeks at the bottom and things you may need at the top. That way you cna grab them out, re wash if needed and chuck them back in at the top.

I often pack early. I make a list and tick off as I go. Especially with a toddler if I left it until the last minute things would definitely be forgotten and a huge stress

I also don’t particularly fancy just putting them straight in the suitcase from my wardrobe as they won’t be fresh

Talk about making extra work for yourself! But if you want to rewash pointlessly you don't need permission.

Packing takes no longer than half an hour, my washing is pretty much always as up
to date as it can be.
I don’t find it stressful, I always do it the morning we go if travelling in the afternoon or the night before if we are setting off very early the next day. We’ve never left anything behind to my memory so if we have forgotten anything it obviously couldn’t have caused a drama of any kind.
I can’t stand dragging out simple tasks, possibly because my mum used to pack a week in advance and would go back to the cases a few times and unpack and repack taking things out and adding them in. Such a palaver.

How much stuff do you take?! I normally pack a few days before but my DH has pointed out that as I worry then I haven't packed something I end up taking it all out and doing it again. Therefore I think going forward logically it makes sense to do it last minute.

In your situation though if you aren't using those clothes and you have time this weekend and don't get paranoid about whether things are in the case or not, then I would do it so it's done.
