Didn’t get an interview

Did you demonstrate the skills in your application. Did you show how you met the essential criteria in the job advert?
Sometimes when internal candidates apply they assume that the employees will know them so they don't spell everything out in the application.

Even if she has the skill, she isn’t entitled to an interview. Don’t know why she thinks she has a legal right to an interview - no one does.
They don’t want her in the role.

If it wasn't legal they would need to interview everyone that applied for a job and that would be a massive pain in the arse.

Of course it’s legal. Otherwise they’d have to employ everyone who applied if they have the skills. For an internal candidate I’d also be looking for someone who’s known as a good team player, a hard worker with a can do attitude, and good attendance and timekeeping records.

Have they spoken to your current manager? Maybe a skill in your current role is not as good as they require for this other role.

Usually when they decline they will say we’re sorry we can’t give feedback or something.

If they don’t say that, then I definitely ask.

The feedback is not always great though.

My last interview went quite well.
I was told that on paper I am a perfect fit for the role, that they absolutely loved me as a person as I came across as really friendly and warm but even though all my answers were spot on I didn’t give the answers they were looking for exactly - all lovely feedback but nothing that helps me for next home.

Yours is slightly different as you can’t reapply but I would ask for feedback to help you with applying for a similar role in a different company.
But unfortunately they’re not required to give any feedback or useful feedback.

You’re not going to change their minds though (if that is your plan).
Even if you fought it, they’ll likely interview you and find another excuse.

They don’t agree. Or there is another reason, I suspect the latter, given the way you are posting about it.

You said previous applicants were told not to reapply, so given you are a previous applicant, it’s probably that.

They don’t want to. They’ve told you that you don’t suit the role and haven’t made it to interview stage.

What are you struggling to understand? They’ve chosen not to take your application any further, and they don’t think you are the right fit. Your replies on here don’t exactly show you in a great light, so maybe you should work to improve your communication before trying to climb in your career. Find a mentor at work, and do what’s needed to fit the criteria for the next time a promotion or new role comes up.

I never seek any kind of feedback. If they don't want me then I don't value anything they say

For internal people I would give some detailed written feedback and follow up with a chat about what was missing from the application, knowledge or skills etc, and give development suggestions for next time.
external candidates wouldn’t get that, unless they put in an FOI request which seems to happen a lot these days!

Hmmm… if you are like this at work I can understand them not interviewing you. It might not be legal for them to sack you for having an attitude problem but they may be hoping this lets you know you aren’t a good fit for them in general .

What? This makes no sense. They have said they don’t want previous applicants to reapply. You are a previous applicant therefore should not reapply. I definitely understand why they don’t want to interview you now.

That’s quite petulant. Job hunting isn’t personal, you could be missing an opportunity to gain useful feedback (though I concede feedback isn’t always useful), especially if it’s down to your interview style.

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've read on here. And that's saying something!

That’s really odd. And maybe shows why employers don’t want you. A very childish attitude to a very normal process of application and rejection, which can be for many reasons and the feedback is often useful.

It’s actually quite funny, the idea of a candidate being rejected and standing there thinking, “well, I didn’t like them anyway and they don’t know what they’re talking about if they dare to turn me down.”

Can you not see that they don’t want you for this job OP? Why would you want to try and put yourself through it again, they don’t want you
